Their last.fm is a thing of beauty, apparently.
Is the best starting point I think.
its where i started, still utter bliss. Though saying that Tired Sounds of.. is just as good.
thats not a bad thing, i really like them, but its true
i'd start with per aspera ad astra.
it's quite a short album (for them) it's only around 40 minutes.
it's when they first really started to hone their sound and add strings and whatnot.
if you like that, then move onto stuff like tired sounds and refinement (which for me is their best work)
and then if you feel like it, have a listen to their older stuff, which is a lot more minimalist.
I've listened to it near on 200 times and I'm still hearing new things. Tired Sounds of is wonderful too, possibly a little more guitar-based, rather than orechestral. I think the nature of the music they make means that you really just need to immerse yourself in one of their sprawling double albums. Definitely one of my favourite bands of all time.
