merriweather post pavilion leaked.
legit. you may message me for the link if you wish
but i'm not going to listen to this until a better quality version leaks. consider that a veiled request somebody.
i'm assuming that's the one you've got since that's the one floating about now. i think as soon as high quality leaks i'm going to put down the cash for the preorder
it's a vinyl rip so i doubt this insane bass that i keep hearing about will be 100%.
and of course i'm going to buy it too. possibly on vinyl just so the extra large artwork can shred my eyes that little bit more.
i'm really keen to hear it regardless.. The guy who ripped it said there was a better quality one coming tomorrow, guess he just wanted to be the one who did it first
this is wonderful :)
though it would've made for a pretty nice christmas present.
n removed it straight away!
not cause its bad, in fact its brilliant on first listen... but because I want to hear it in its GLORY when its released and over play it that way rather then this way...which will be selling the album short.
It's quite shuffely threw out, i like that!
and it is sounding really really fantastic.
is good enough to listen to the first time
and yeah its 128 kbps
this is really something
then it would be most welcome :)
i need that too haha
Oh yes. Roll on 2009!
ambient techno remixes of The Proclamers doing cover versions of The Beach Boys?
I'm not sayin a bad thing but it's definatly the first thing that popped into my mind on listening to it...
til 12th jan, it's PROPER special though innit?
Rather badly want to listen to it, and be familiar with the songs in time for the gig...
But on the other hand, ya know... it's the equivilant of opening your presents before Christmas. Sure it's great when you open them, and naughty...but then you feel hollow, cheap and used come the day itself.
that might in fact be the best way to do it, then you get the absolute full effect of the bass that everyone's going on about. So much energy as well, bound to get you moving even if you've never heard it.
I've got about 5 erections right now :)
a lot of the songs live for the past 18 months anyway
a hell where luke leighfield is playing on repeat.
Where did you find the 320?
so no better quality.
ah wait, checking on the site i got it from, seems a lot of people are confirming it, oh well, still very listenable.
...can't wait to hear this in good quality. So dense, so many things going on in every song.....
the 160 rip is fine for me for now.
this is alright, it's a little one passed but it's got some good moments. Brother Sport is the best track on it so far for me but thats maybe because I have heard it more as it's been around a while. Not hearing this big bass people have been on about there are some nice basslines around but I was expecting some deep deep sub work but I guess that was a bit silly of me...
I'm gona buy this anyway as I can't stop looking at the front cover picture, if it's that strange leaf wobbly thing when it comes out on CD anyway, love it!
i can hear bits where it might have some fun low end on a cd/vinyl/320 mp3
thats usualy just fine for the big bass stuff heck you can even hear big bass on the 64 stream of Rinse FM online. It still needs my big speaker test though, to many people around to crank it up today. I really wana do that with the new Skull Disco CD too hehehe
the listening parties were at venues were they not? like with big pas/soundsystems. maybe people got a skewed sense of how bassy it was? like bassier than the usual animal collective type of band, but not as bassy as rusko or something. maybe!
it's gona sound pretty big on a soundsystem.
It's about time indie and bands in general used some brutal bass so a step in that direction is a good un in my book. Shakleton remixes of this would be nice heheheh
and appleblim specifically in the kruger interview, which is frustratingly not online (paper copy is in bristol too, bah), so maybe! would rule
but Appleblim might I guess maybe...
I'm not very hopeful but it would be wicked this kinda thing and Gang Gang Dance would be wicked for remixing.
which is pretty much the most repulsive genre there is though :(
they were playing Phil Lynott and The Beatles and the bass was so intense.
Still the band did mention bass more in relation to production rather than an extreme emphasis on it. They wanted it to be bassy like hip-hop you hear on the radio, I think they mentioned Erykah Badu in particular. Nice and tight and punchy.
Can't wait to hear it anyway. Shame it leaked so close to the release after all the effort the web-sheriff put in. Ah well.
didnt realise someone had posted this.got my link off some guy on youtube while ago its a great album dont know which previous album by ac to compare it to though.bass seems ok
could be my favourite song ever.
I really don't want to listen to it as I'm a bit of a sound geek. But then again, I hate going to gigs and not knowing any of the songs. ARGH!
Listening to this non-stop all day.
It needs much more listening but it sounds fantastic on the first few times.
i LOVE it
but admit MPP = 9/10.
It's possible I may get to interview them in a few weeks: please pm/post me really great questions and/or lead-ins. Thanks!
it was their plan to have it leak on christmas day all along, and if so, well done!
They've been doing their damndest to stop it leaking at all...
Lion in a Coma
you can't honestly say you think this is good?
please, stop lying to yourself. This is a very weak album, and the only reason people are giving it the time of day is because of some fanboyish sense of duty. OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE
Not being able to appreciate the complete brilliance of this album.
one day you'll see the naked emperor, and then you can look back on this exchange with some sense of perspective. Good for you
that really nicely produced well constructed songs with catchy melodys interesting sounds in pretty much every area could be seen as pretentious or something that only someone deluded could enjoy.
i've not actually heard it. Maybe i should reserve judgement?
but you'd rather be on our side than KiK's though. He likes Johnny Foreigner.
I think that's a better argument for why you should like an album. I'm pretty sure.
...or does this feel like an extension from Person Pitch?
Either way, this is fantastic! And yeah, can't wait for a vinyl copy
it's got a lot more in common with Person Pitch than Strawberry Jam. This is not a bad thing. I'm gonna fucking love this album.
I can't stop playing it, either. Absolute perfection Animal Collective.
or live do they kinda sound like The Orb -with less dub stuff going on...
is it just me? it always makes me laugh..
so The Orb would fit very well into that bracket. I was also thinking it sounded a bit like The KLF in parts... oh and The Pretenders doing cover versions of The Beach Boys.
"Actually, it’s the first kind of music I got really into. Not techno per se, but electronic music. I kind of stumbled across somebody who… I kind of adopted this kid’s room when I went to high school. He had left a bunch of CDs behind and UF Orb (The Orb’s sophomore LP) was one – it totally blew my mind. I had never heard anything like that before. And there are, like, some kind of more housey moments on that record, and it’s from that record that I got more into dancey kinds of music."
it makes sense you can hear it in their sound.
you can hear it....
need to warm to the others, but probably will.
does anyone know whether the vinyl comes with an mp3 download code?
awesome,double vinyl goodness for me!
Can't say it enough.
Can someone message me a link please? Preferably one that links directly to the files which don't require a password.
My Girls is fucking amazing! I have it pre-ordered and can't wait. Does anyone know what kind of stuff is going to be on the "bonus" 2nd CD? Different mixes or something... there isn't a very good description of what to expect.
rough trade are selling it with a bonus mix I found da link for ya
itll just be a mix of other music they like
I bet they make a good selection though
direct link is
I think the race for the best album is over before it's even started. If anything is better than this next year, I'll be a happy man indeed.
is amazing, I opened it up to a large size on my monitor and was suitably freaked out
I've only heard half of one song of a 7KB rip on one speaker, but IT'S THE BEST ALBUM EVER WRITTEN.
i might as well also say in this one that A.C. will play the forum in march, same price as the forthcoming koko gig which is uber SOLD OUT.
if you're a crafty cat you'll know where to look i'm sure
my girls has GOT to be a semi-homage to/rip off of frankie knuckles - your love. the synth is identical!
Frankie Knuckles just stole the track off him and maybe tweaked it a bit for 12" release the swine!
"Jamie Principle gave the tape to Frankie Knuckles to play at the Powerhouse where it went down a storm, the only contribution Frankie Knuckles made to the tune was playing it to a wider audience. Sadly Jamie Principle was never credited for his part in such a seminal piece."
those songs are;
In The Flowers
Daily Routine (ish)
the rest are a bit wishy-washy so far
In The Flowers to Summertime Clothes;
Daily Routine untill Taste then Lion in a Coma all the way to the end.
and it doesnt really interest me. just not the sort of thing i like, but everyone seems to love them here! (ive heard of animal collective before, but never really checked them out) does listening to it a lot make it worthwhile?
artwork is a redeeming feature though
if you're going to listen to them then i suppose you have to invest more time than the average to properly 'appreciate' everything that's going on.
i know this sounds wanky but it really is true, and it really is worth it :)
Go with Sung Tongs first I reckon.
its a masterpiece for those who got bored too much. crap music for crap ears.... but i can see 4 star reviews though...
for the proper CD release!
