i have a pretty crappy laptop. it's about 5 years old now. i use it to make music in ableton without much trouble, but at the moment i can only do midi stuffs, and sample stuff, but i can't record audio in. when i try it sounds like shit. so i want to be able to record audio in.
im going to buy a pretty nice mic (akg c1000) following recommendations here and want a good audio interface external sound card usb-y thingimabob. like an m-box (?) or something. i think i just want something small that sounds good. or maybe i want something that has a sick midi controller built in too.
i dont want something internal, cos i reckon this laptop will die within a couple of years, so i want to be able to take this hardware with me onto my next machine, see?
so yeah: i dont care about bundled software or fx setting, just want something that will sound good, not had terrible lag etc etc etc just allow me to use my ableton like an actual recording device.
so yeah, recommendations of audio interface thingies would be great, or links to forumz or articles where these things are discussed in expert detail. also good.
my budget is around £100/£150. what do you think of THAT?
c'mon, i just want to make something that sounds like Hissing Fauna at home, k?
