And there are at least 6 fire engines outside. I walked up to have a look, smoke billowing out! I hope no one is hurt.
so this explains why i was woken up last night by fire engines and why holloway road was closed this morning, leaving the road i live on at a standstill. i was a bit confused walking out the door this morning...
You live on Holloway road!
this sort of thing would never happen in camden.
There were nine fire engines, an ambulance and two emergency traffic response vehicles. Easily the most emergency services I've ever personally seen in one place.
From when I went past on the bus it did look gutted - the windows were blown out and it was black inside.
then this place. burn trendy pub burn...
Not just somewhere where Holloway's 16 year-olds went?
I must have visited a different Nambucca.
which was over two years ago i felt VERY out of place.
not least cuz when i left there were about 400 16 year olds being held by bouncers outside pending providing proof of age.
you gotta factor in at least 2 fires and 6 deaths a year really
It's the shittest venue on the planet. Good sound though, but it's literally falling apart. Disgusting.
The staff are nice there. I could never understand why that place wasn't busier.
The pub I live above on Holloway Road had an arson attack a few months back. Hope it wasn't the same sort of thing.
because they never washed the glasses so they were always filthy and the toilet was completely disgusting, maybe? doesn't make it the kind of place you want to hang out in for longer than an hour, really. and the shows always ran way late.
that said, sad news. i feel for the people who lived there.
but so are most venues. The Barfly is hardly the cleanliest place around either. Ho hum. Maybe the insurance money will give em a decent chance to start again and get the place properly up and running.
Here's hoping the people upstairs were all insured, too. That'd be a tough break before Christmas...
i like grubby. grubby like barfly/dublin castle/macbeth/bardens etc? all good. i'm talking about disgusting... i never got given a glass in nambucca that didn't have grease/lipstick/unidentifiable substance on it, both inside and out. the first couple of times i asked for a new glass but they were inevitably as filthy as the first one. and the toilets were just grim. but, y'know, i didn't want it to burn down.
