Doesn't sound like ear-fucking noise though like it implies.
Are you into post hardcore like so many DiSers?
I'm way not into that shit.
and The Gun Club and Hot Snakes and The Unicorns and The Birthday Party and Bruce Springsteen, I guess.
I don't mind if you want to hold my hand in public.
I like Bastardgeist lots.
is melesmeles mad
then how come hardly anyone pays attention when I tell them to listen to AMANAPLAN?
PS: listen to Amanaplan! www.myspace.com/amanaplanband
AND I LIKED EVERY SECOND OF IT.
THAT's FIVE BIG ONES RIGHT THERE BABY.
uyo gotta be patient and persistent liek brailnove
I always think of your average DiSer as a 20-somethig guy with very slightly emo hair who likes Biffy Clyro and Youthmovies a lot.
Tom Whyman, it looks like Brainlove're doing the next Bastardgeist album maybe.
they're all drone this, drone that... who has great music taste? THAT GUY WHO LIKES DRONE! Ya know? I'm also including 'funk' and 'prog' as derivatives of drone.
EXCELLENT NEWS!!! Hooray for everything!
Drone is everything the name lets on it is.
1. A male bee, especially a honeybee, that is characteristically stingless, performs no work, and produces no honey. Its only function is to mate with the queen bee.
2. An idle person who lives off others; a loafer.
3. A person who does tedious or menial work; a drudge: “undervalued drones who labored in obscurity” (Caroline Bates).
4. A pilotless aircraft operated by remote control.
The name gives away how boring it is.
Repetition and drone can be really transcendental stuff. I adore harmonies and long, quiet, slow-changing pieces that really open you up in an interesting way rather than the short-sharp-shock pop format.
Have you listened to any Steve Reich stuff?
And try a bit of this aceness for something less hectic
But I wouldn't really consider that drone. I think of drone as sort of long, slow, dull...While Reich does all the underlying repetitious rhythms and the building melodies and things, it's still really bright and kind of motivational. If that makes sense? It sounds like you could work out complex equations to it.
The type of drone I'm thinking of isn't motivating and just really negative.
even if it doesn't sound like it.
Seriously, heck out Eliane Radigue, that shit is awesome, but it's a 40 minute commitment to listen to most of her pieces.
it doesn't even do what it tries to well.
Whereas something like 'Selected Ambient Works Vol 2' for example does. By making you sound like you're trapped in an overgrown abandoned factory from the future rather than wanking around on a guitar for fucking ever.
I only have the good shit.
Asva, Om, Sunn O))), lots of Japanese stuff, that sort of thing.
people look at you like you have a rubbish taste in seminal first-part-shareware computer games though.
I recommend "Black, Blind, and Blonde" and "Flee (to the hills)" as a starter.
