Might be their best.
Okay, it's Kid A :-p
Might be OK Computer. Might be.
is better than In rainbows, people get annoyed when i say that!!
rage, fury, rage, ARGH!
But seriously though. Its not without its moments (There There, Go To Sleep, Punch Up, the underrated Where I End And You Begin), but it could have done with some judicious editing and reordering.
Backdrifts sounds like an Everything But The Girl B-side, Scatterbrain doesn't pull up any trees, and We Suck Young Blood is a bit painful to be honest.
It lacks the coherence of tone and mood that makes Kid A, In Rainbows and especially OK Computer stand out.
but very, very good and underrated for the most part. It's maybe a bit too long (I'd lose The Gloaming and Scatterbrain off of it) but songs like 2+2=5, Go To Sleep, There There and Myxomatosis are amongst their best. I Will is gorgeous as well.
all of it
on tour this summer and it bloody worked by god. but the album is fractured to say the least...
But their best? Nah, that's Kid A
apart from MAYBE pablo honey, but hail to the thief is amoung their weakest, still pretty amazing, would rank really highly in my top albums, but I wouldn't say it quite lives up to their incredible standards.
is byfar my favourite, its just no one seems to agree, haha.
Very patchy. Lots of ideas thrown around, little sticking following collision with wall. Too much whinging, not enough spectral beauty. Almost funny how uncohesive it is, except this is Radiohead and all their other albums are brilliantly arranged.
2+2=5, Sit Down Stand Up, The Gloaming, There There, True Love Waits and Wolf at the Door deserved to be released as an EP, and I've pretty much arranged my mp3 player so it looks that way.
It has all of their most beautiful songs... Not quite as awe inspiring as Kid A and certainly not as alt anthemic as The Bends or OK Computer, but it's the perfect record to wallow in self pity to, its underlying hopefulness giving it the right to be so. This is what constitutes a masterpiece.
(oh god I love puns)
but in my opinion it's up there with the perceived 'best'. For me 2+2=5 is the weakest song on the album and I would hazard a guess that if anyone felt similarly it might prejudice them against the rest of the album since it's the first track - I remember it did when I was a slightly less receptive teenager. We Suck Young Blood remains one of the most beautifully terrifying songs ever. If that's not spectral beauty then what is?
but it's not the best.
2+2=5, sit down/stand up, i will, there there and where i end and you begin are awesome songs though. the gloaming was tasty live as well.
1. kid a
2. in rainbows
3. amnesiac/the bends
4. ok computer
6. pablo honey
No doubt about it...
one that I'll always associate with doing my dissertation (uh, that's sort of meant as a recommendation)... it kind of loses me after There There (which is AMAZING), but I really do love it, I suppose it's a bit of a problem child album, sort of a little bit of all the incarnations of Radiohead, but that can be a reason to love it too
ok computer is the best
It would make a superb closing track to an album - weird how they stuck it in halfway through.
there there is posibily my favourite Radiohead track, where I end and you begin, 2+2=5, go to sleep are also excellent. But the rest....theres no cohesion and it's too long. And the other tracks- I like scatterbrain and punch up but they sound like B Sides at best. Sit Down Stand Up doesn't do itself any favours by following 2+2=5. Sail to the Moon..ugly. the melodies are pretty weak in the rest of the songs.
