Of the series / FabricLive. Or if you like none of them, what's your favorite DJ Mix of that variety.
all new ones though promo styleeeee
I'm a fan of:
there are so many now and they are all very diffrent it's kind of hard to choose. What kind of thing take your fancy?
they cover alot of ground heheh
Minimal, Techno, Hip-Hop.
John Peel... Where can I gather mixes he's done!?!?! All I have with his name in it is Pavements Peel sessions across who knows how many bonus editions, and the 7 or 8 or however disc Complete Peel Sessions by the Fall. I also read all I can on the man and cry radio no longer matters.
But any recommendations for Minimal, Techno, Breaks, or Hip-Hop?
his CD is Number 7 in the Fabric Live collection. It's got everything from country and western to hardcore on it Bonkers hardcore not US hardcore...
Minimal - - - Villalobos and Luciano
Techno - - - Adam Beyer and Audion maybe???
Breaks - - - Plump DJ's, Meat Katie,
Hip-Hop - - - DJ Yoda, DJ Craze, Spank Rock, Scratch Perverts, Deadly Avenger.
i would also add dj spinbad(live14) and aim(live17), both wonderfully crafted mixes!
was gonna say ellien's favric mix is ace, minimal techno goodness at its best!
Plump Djs is no bad
also. m.mayer and diplo.
may go and look for it.
Radioactive Man is another fave I think.
is my fave,followed by
jacques le cont
the justice one that never got released is actually a lot of fun,you can tell they were just taking the piss!
one is great then Peel's then Dj Format's
I like Freq Nasty, James Lavelle and Ricardo Villalobos' as well.
I got DJ Spindbad's for £3 from Fopp - an ace party album with loads of hip hop classics.
Diplo's track selection is good, however the mixing is very sloppy.
Had high hopes for Caspa & Rusko but it sounds like they threw it together in ten minutes.
Diplo redeemed himself with his Top Ranking mix this year.
really good blends and mixes on the Diplo mix - Plantlife/Nina Sky and Cure/Outkast/Le Tigre are 2 personal faves. He's not about technical excellence for me, more the fact that he can work through loads of genres still making it work.
Other than that, the Grooverider one is probably my most played (teardown d&b) whilst either the Robert Hood or Villalobos are probably "the best" - fantastic selections, flawless mixing; perfect headphone listening. Other than the Spinbad one (which is one of the best party hiphop mixes you can buy), the DJ Craze mix is excellent too.
it's brilliant. Villalobos' is so good as well, i also think Ame's is one of the best from this year. Luciano's is pretty good..
either dj format or cut copy's cds
He was doing some thing on at Horse and Groom in Shoreditch last SUnday and I missed it - no hang on, that's TOMORROW... Some all dayer on there. Glad I just remembered.
I only have the Caspa & Rusko one but I'm now going to be 'acquiring' others on the strength of this thread.
by a million miles. best album ever.
most boring mixing ever though
you don't always need super flashy mixing.
Villalobos', Stacey Pullen's and Robert Hood's are all great. The quality of the mixing on Pullen is especially staggering. I like the fact that Pullen's house mix really goes for tunes that work well together, as opposed to trying to shoehorn certain tracks. As much as I love the Hood mix though, I wouldn't exactly say that the mixing is flawless as somebody did above...Certain segues are a little sketchy, but it all goes in the right direction!
and I agree they are really good.
Switch & Sinden do some bassline bumpin house and all that kinda stuff.
John Tejada with some techno
not played with my Tejada yet...
and decided to send me loads of promo's, it's not out until next year I dont think :)
Tejada's one is freakin brilliant, it's a wicked selection of smooth and shiney techno bombs. I have a lil Tejada news too but dunno if it's my place to say here heheh
Their album was so-so. Liquid bollocks.
one is alright, I haven't heard a D'n'B mix in about 7 years though and this one pleasently suprised me. Stuff by Breakage and some Metal Headz were pretty cool.
jimi you're a tease y'know
is by far my favourite, followed by cut copy
closely followed by James Murphy & Pat Mahoney
I <3 Disco
The Villalobos one is the best though as it's essentially a mixed studio album and it fucks with your head in a very pleasing way
ain't been mentioned, the hype and slam ones are great.
fabric have started releasing artist albums now, too. radioactive man and buraka som sistema.
the simian mobile disco one is my fave, followed by james murphy..
Andrew Weatherall one is superb, Swaysak as well..
It sounds so timeless. Saying that (and completely contradicting myself), I do quite like the Cut Copy and Spank Rock ones too, despite the fact that they now sound quite dated in parts
Looking forward to hearing Switch & Sinden and Metro Area
4! Wheel! Drive!
i thought that was very enjoyable. not amazing but their tunes and tune selections are always good. they play really easy to get into techno if you ask me.
M.A.N.D.Y's 12 Great Remixes for 11 Great Artists album?
If not, you should get it. Some bitchin' stuff on there
it it recent?
and Steve Bug if you like minimal techno.
so much baasssssss
from michael mayer and andrew weatherall
and sell all the "Fabric" series of CDs at a profit on Amazon Marketplace.
It's all about "FabricLive" series for me.
Of the ones not mentioned: Marcus Intalex - FabricLive #35 - gets my vote.
