for me its Marvin Gaye - Whats Going On. Thought it was really dull and samey and just disappointing overall.
made me feel nauseous.
though i see why people love it, and I enjoy a few tracks, i just don't 'get' it i suppose
is on the list with whiskey of things I wish I liked more than I do, because others seem to derive so much enjoyment from them.
The Who - Who's Next has about 3 good songs. the rest are just dodgy.
The Who seem to have fooled the world into thinking they're good.
I have an almost unconditional love of everything from the 60s but they were bad bad bad
with the chords im playing" has to be one of the worst lyrics ever.
WRONG WRONG WRONG
ANYONE WHO SAYS THE WHO WERE RUBBISH (ESPCIALLY BETWEEN 64 & 74) IS A BLUDDY IDIOT.
i was underwhelmed when i heard it first but i do like it.
...many years ago with no expectations whatsoever and what i heard genuinely surprised me. the reggae influences were wholly new and exciting back then. i still get a thrill out of there records. plus Paul Simenon is just fucking aces.
And I frickin' love Bowie. Good songs but there's some overly fey stuff there and I don't like the production at all. Shit would probably be too strong a word.
Actually Sergeant Pepper's... - sounds like a bad Blur album
however Ziggy is an amazing album.
Inner City Blues and the title track are great but they bookend some of the most horrific lyrical atrocities ever put onto record. Save the Children is possibly the worst song i've ever heard.
Sex Pistols - NMTB is obvious but true
wins the award for most cringeworthy track on that album.
I cannot fathom how people think it's even half as good as Closer. It's got some very good songs on, like Shadowplay, but also some dirge. I'm thinking Candidate. Awful.
Pretty average record, with a complete lack of decent songs. Just bored me. Some of their later material is quite decen though.
until the last three songs, which are just shit
Interzone is really good, infact I think Unknown Pleasures > Closer, although non-album singles > Unknown Pleasures
But then I realised I was being stupid.
because it's not a seminal album, obviously
anything by the velvet underground or joy division for me. which is odd because I really like both John Cale and New Order.... their music just doesn't do it for me.
words cannot convey how shit this album is.
Come on then - lets hear it. Why is Trout Mask... any good?
which is just unmitigated turd and anyone who disagrees is just plain silly
The Happy Mondays - Pills n' Thrills and Bellyaches. just poo.
its nice but it just sort of washes over me and i forget im listening to it then its finished.
but after one song it just turns into nice songs to have in the background
maybe i was just too young to get it aged 15?
Theres a few more but i cant really think. I'd partly agree with the bowie chat earlier ^.
I'd forgotten about that.
The shittest, lamest skits on every hip-hop album combined > the spoken word bits on The Wall
a tenner bag of kit for a blowjob on this website buuuuuuuuuuuuuut....
anything by radiohead... thom yorke's voice is fuckin hideous....
i often wonder if he'd sound the same if i was puttin a 3/4" inch drill through his kneecaps
yes, it really is a bag of mostly random nonsense with the odd gem inbetween. Why people always blab on about that one being the classic when Safe As Milk most rightly is I'll never know. And Clear Spot. And Mirror Man.
Is The Libertines a seminal album? That's shit as well.
sorry I just don't like it
Listened last night and it's rather dull. No dynamics.
eh?? Tis a beauty that creates a whole vibe of it's own....like, man. Thinking about it though, I'm sure I used to be a bit underwhelmed by it and much preferred the sound of Al Green instead. Then as I got older Mr Gaye's opus made more and more sense and now I love it. Right on.
That was supposed to be a reply to What's Going On and not Highway 61. I give up. I'm going home.
both joy division albums.
I think it is quite often the case the innovators dont produce the best work in a genre.
then you are genuinely a different species to me
can't remember which one. probably says a lot.
I do like Wire but his voice is one of the blandest things in music. I guess that's kind of the point though.
fuck this is like 4 years old
I love Marvin Gaye.
just really, really bland.
Also, and I hate to say it cos it's a cliche on here isn't it, but OK Computer would definitely fall into this category. Just full of 90s indie cliches to these ears....
Village Green Preservation Society
Think I prefer half the stuff that is obviously ripping it off tbh...
but I can see why people think its twee rubbish
Bowing to peer pressure and utter surprise, I bought a copy and found it would go better on cracker.
Pet Sounds? Pet Shop Boys have much better tunes.
I like jazz, but I don't get this
should be put up against it.
everything seems to be about what people 'hate' or bands that aren't considered credible enough for their almighty requirements.
Also, I find sometimes on here people make others feel bad for liking certain bands.
although this thread is a collection of people who have thought there's something wrong with them for not liking certain sacred texts. This is good - it's cathartic.
Neutral Milk Hotel
that What's Goin' On is the one that's always hailed as a classic, when Let's Get it On is way, way better.
Never Mind the Bollocks
I listened to it again recently and I stuck with it, but I just couldn't wait for it to end.
