has this been done yet? probably but what are your predictions?
go, go, go!
I love them a lot!
in my top 20 of the year.
And they were good.
Bono's face in general.
in my top 40 of the year.
and a bunch of bands that have just signd to big labels that are actually shite but will be pushed to the top in spite of that..
also; Status Quo
and the ones backed by a label with enough money to booze/coke up the 100 movers and shakers on the London 'List' that generate what you consider to be your taste and this amazing band Agatha from Milan who piss all almost all the noize.math rock bands in the UK
they wont be big but they will hopefully continue to be awesome. the EP is ossum
in my top 30 of the year.
Also, Detroit Social Club, and possibly General Fiasco
they were massive this year
that could ALMOST be us. almost.
I hope you're right!
I feel like I should hate them but there's something amazingly likable about their music.
Emmy The Great.
I predict the borecore rubbish of Lykke Li will get massive.
in fact they were both on DiS' list two years ago too
My brother was right on these. Loads of potential.
shame about bono must die though : (
I'd go for:
Skint & Demoralised
Florence & The Machine
but yeah those lot. Oh, and Esser (even though he's not really a band).
...if the album in January is consistent with the material they've released so far, they make a big impact. Like the stuff or not, you know full well there's a big market for it.
I'd also reckon Franz Ferdinand will position themselves favourably for the end of 2009.
What it is less likely to be is some rather talented but nevertheless fated to obscurity, little band who won your heart at 'that gig you saw last month'. The odds are always against that one.
hate skint & demoralised, little comets and florence and the machine.
and esser is shit live. that said theyll all be massive.
Mark my words...
Detroit based indie/soul.
the wait is over!
as that E.P's quite lovely
and Stairs To Korea
maybe the maple state?
JUST JACK, surely?
Are they already "big"?
...they're one of those bands where you can tell from listening to them. I don't know whether that's a good thing or not. They're the single of the week (and hence a free download) on iTunes...
Great intro, great chorus, great outro
The Big Pink
Empire of the Sun
Florence and the Machine
Mumford & Sons
The Temper Trap
I mean, it's probably true, but...
There's an equal chance that our best record of 2009 will be made by someone we don't know about or haven't paid attention to yet.
Old Romantic Killer BandT
Tommy Reilly (that bloke off orange unsigned act, that program is shit but this guy is reallyy good!)
Florence and the Machine
the pain of being pure at heart
pulled apart by horses
epic stuff....think twilight sad meeting sigur ros... gonna be big, big, big.
