I love the bit when, like, towards the end of that movement, the music kind of rolls and sways around itself. It's about 8 seconds long, but it's probably the best 8 seconds of music ever.
The only competition for it in my ears is Chopin's Marche Funèbre movement in his Piano Sonata No. 2, which is never considered because of all the death around it, but it's the most beautiful and heartbreaking piece ever.
but, you know, I get excited.
that the trail of dead song of the same name is also one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written!
i'd say Gorecki's "symphony of sorrowful songs" surpasses it though.
