possibly all year supported the mighty and most spectacular HAWKWIND tonight.
my whole family's going watching Hawkwind next week as a crimbo pressie for my dad... luckily it seems like these lot aren't supporting.
if my mam hadn't been ill i'd have had to stand through songs like 'don't smoke crack sniff it from your mom's dead pussy' and 'fit goth chicks on the end of my dick' with both the folks
Hawkwind were excellent - more of a Rock set than they've played on the previous few tours, with a full production of dancers, projections and plenty of lights
is coming so its probably for the best
but I've actually seen that band live. A while back I was in Manchester to see Beck, and we went out one night to some random gig of unsigned bands. They were all bloody awful, I mean seriously.
At least these guys were a bit entertaining, even if I didn't really dig the music. And they didn't take themselves too seriously at all, which was nice.
then it just got a bit depressing
All the metalheads at the front headbanging and making \m/ symbols was kinda embarassing, as were the 'OMG SHOCK' lyrics, I'll give you that. :)
What's really offensive is the idea of a musician who thinks she/he could scare anybody.
I mean, short of Danzig that is.
You know these were the nerdy goth kids in high school that pretty consistently got their asses kicked.
ONE GUY on the barrier ... on his own ... in an Academy main venue
the whole floor was almost deserted, partly due it being early doors (gigs finish at 10 on fridays so they can have a club night after) and partly because everyone who had arrived on time was hiding in the shadows around the edges of the room trying to fool themselves into think this wasn't happening
