They sound really interesting. Are there any of these that really stand out as worth hearing? Which volumes?
i forget which version.
is one of the songs with PJ Harvey on, which is awesome. That's on volume 9&10, the whole of that one is good.
11&12 are due out midway through next year, so's the rumour on the rekordsrekords boards.
I'm a Josh Homme superfan though.
If you can get it, 1 & 2 is totally immense.
Volume 1: Instrumental Driving Music For Felons
Volume 2: Status: Ships Commander Butchered
mainly instrumental, really atmospheric + some killer riffs, with a weird hypnotic feel
shame, the last set (the one you can still get) is the weakest one
..they were on man's ruin so early nebula records and the glorious kyuss/qotsa split are also forever gone. Although I think you can purchase these digitally.
I totally love Cake (Who Shit on the ?) and the monster breakdown at the end.
1 & 2 must be experienced driving late at night by moonlight. If only it existed then, I have no doubt its what the Blues Brothers would have gone for (if they'd been a bit more into mushrooms...)
1 and 2 are essential. 3 is crap. 4 is pretty great. 5 and 6 have their moments. 7 and 8 are mostly awesome. 9 (the one with PJ Harvey and that dude from Marilyn Manson) is one of the worst records I've ever heard.
