I contemplate suicide...
"For women who have outgrown Westlife et al, Kings of Leon are the most credible boy-band on the planet, and for the guys, well, they offer simple rock thrills with a hint of danger. What's not to like?"
but saying "If Oasis are the average British punter's favourite home-grown band, Kings of Leon are their favourite American rock act, with the cartoonish quality of a latter-day ZZ Top"...well...i was expecting a full on 'THEYRE THE MODERN INCARNATION OF THEM' style thing
no one gives a fuck about them in the US and does anyone care what the Guardian says? They have copy to fill to spread around the adverts.
Obviously haven't been keeping up with their progress. They did break here though.
But yeah, they're not exactly unknown in America. The Killers have the same thing - they're bigger in Britain, but that doesn't automatically mean they're unknown in America as some assume.
Aside from the bit about the White Stripes and the Strokes failing to capitalise on earlier success - both those bands are internationally huge.
KoL have a couple of decent tunes I like, but I really don't think they're anything special - the comparisons to U2 and Coldplay, both big, bland, stadium rock bands are pretty much spot on.
you wouldn't see Kings of Leon singing anything as disgusting as 'Pearl Necklace', but otherwise thee Top are far superior
