but they are pretty good sometimes.
what do I win?
all style over any substance
My Feelings towards Muse summed up in several words:
They're all right, but too much SOUND. Bit whiny, but then I do love radiohead.
Can be a bit boring, all right I guess.
Few incredible songs.
I'm too old for their histrionic sci-fi rock.
I was too old for their brand of histrionic fretwank...
Hate the voice.....hate the concepts....Bellamy thinks he's some kind of rock god...
Gives prog a bad name.
Load of Toss.
I like them -- and LOVE Blackholes & revalations -- in SPITE of the fact that they sound like Queen (and on occasion Rush, Kiss, U2, And others).
more than anything else in the world. If Hitler fronted a band with Mussolini on bass, Bin Laden on lead guitar and Stalin on bass i'd prefer them to Muse. I bet they'd have better riffs.
two bassists is overtop even for a band of oppressive despots
but then i guess thats what those guys were good at
Maybe Overkill is the band name....
With the clash of ideologies I can't see them staying together for long..... "we've split due to political differences" it would say in the article in the NME. Following a lull, the solo careers would take off.....but I reckon that Big Joe Stalin would end up with a Ringo-esque career.....with voice overs for childrens TV series.....inbetween slaughtering many millions of his own countrymen of course.......
...it's a fact people. I think most people like them at some point and then just leave them behind.
Those who don't go through this natural growth, are almost certainly still living at home in their thirties and getting their mom to cook meals for them every day.
that is....true? I think it is!!
"Everyone grows out of Muse..."
What a load of shit. Especially coming from someone posting on a message board, probably from his/her mother's basement.
How's that turned around for you?
I love irony.
can hardly be called mass murderers
Always fresh, doing something new and thinking out of the box. Jeeeeeez you guys are a bunch of miserable wanktanks! Muse are immense live, yet to capture their great live sound on record - hoping the next album will be seminal. Their gig at the Albert Hall was one of my best ever. Consistantly the best live band i have ever seen.
Possibly the most boring live band I've ever seen.
If you don't recognise that you are a twat
Muse's headlining set was one of the finest performances, neigh THE finest performance I have ever seen, especially when it started pissing down with rain halfway through the set. I got so excited that the first thing I did when I got home was pen a letter/type an email to NME about how amazing it was (I was 18, screw you). It got in too, which was nice.
would go to see them live again at the drop of a hat.
I have seen Muse live 16 times. I saw them back in the day when they had just been signed (pre-showbiz) and say them supporting Cay and Skunk Anansie. These three skinny grunge lads strolled onstage who i didnt know who they were. They were literally the most amazing thing i have ever seen, so good at such a young age, so different, great musicians. I have tracked them ever since - right up to their Wembley stadium zenith performance! So all the twats on here slagging them off seem to be in the minority. Muse are brilliant. I remember seeing Coldplay support Muse on the Showbiz tour, and Muse literally pissed all over their chips. Matt Bellamy - a genius end of.
And both were pretty amazing. Got to be hard to find a band that put on a better show.
I would say since seeing them live I have listened to them less on record as they're just way over produced.
Origin - was the closest album they have made close to replicate their live sound. I hope they cut down on the spaceship noises and make this album sound much more raw.
I actually really like the b-sides part of 'Hullaballo' which is much more stripped down and raw.
live their tunes just take on a whole new aura.
huge booming riffs to the end of every song which helps. met muse too - thoroughly nice guys. the drummer dom is a legend!
Map Of The Problematique
Invicible (esp. live)
I'll have a think about the other two...
Live - YES! one of the best stadium rock bands of recent times, if not THE best.
On Record - Over produced and sheen, inoffensive for the most part with some great songs.
but i lost all love with their last album. the others are still fun to great, though aging.
Showbiz - 9/10. A tremendous debut album
Origin Of Symmetry - 9.5/10. Dark, much heavier and rawer.
Hullaballoooooooo - 9/10. Captures Muse live excellently whilst bringing some hidden B-side gems to the floor.
Absolution - 7/10. Bloated and over produced. Good individuals songs but a bit 'meh'.
Black Holes and Revelations - 8/10. As an album that flows, absolutely brilliant, granted individually songs not as good, but a fine piece of work.
...with the songs on that album (I'm going to pick out Assasin) they missed a chance to go back to a rawer sound.
