Magazines starting to do their Best Albums of 2008 lists
Q have put Kings Of Leon at No. 1 (kind of expected I guess)
Mojo have Fleet Foxes as their No. 1 (ditto, wouldn't be surprised to see Uncut do the same)
I think Fleet Foxes are going to be cropping up in a lot of top 10s.
The point of this post...er....anyone else seen these lists or any others yet? Thoughts?

...
I've seen Paste and Spin's lists but they're both terrible. Paste had She & Him at number 1 and Dear Science at 50, and Spin's wasn't much better IIRC.
it's been a slow year if fleet foxes are topping these lists
ps glasvegas will be number one on the nme list surely?
Judging by the rule
of 3 singles in the previous year's poll I'd have gone for Foals last December but Glasvegas seems the better bet now.
I think
Kings of Leon might make No.1 on the NME list too - what did they give it when they reviewed it?
7/10
http://www.nme.com/reviews/kings-of-leon/9911
are these magazines out?
yes, I have wasted
£3.90 on Q already today.
fantastic
i get them free at work
Are Q for real?
I'm not even anti-Kings of Leon but it's easily their worst album by a long way.
Q would only ever give it to-
Kings Of Leon
Killers
Razorlight
Oasis
Coldplay
The Verve
I'd say KOL deserve it the most from that list in 2008.
thought it might have been coldplay
Q gave x&y FIVE STARS
and the title of CLASSIC ALBUM
I'm so bored of lists already
we all know its gona be full of bland indie as they are every year
don't b such a snob
compiled lists are always watered down
and a bit bland aint they, inderviduals ones are usualy just fine.
I'm just sayin I find the stuff on the lists generic bland indie, from the ones I've seen so far. Fair play if other like it I'm not fussed about that just music innit
Mojo
have The Week That Was top ten, which is cheering (and Fuck Buttons in the thirties. Mojo! Fuck Buttons!)
Uncut
have got portishead as their number 1. I had forgotten that had even come out this year.
thats every bit as daft as kings of leon at no.1
in my humble opinion
nah, Third is brilliant
totally deserved, wouldn't be surprised to see it in p4ks top 3ish.
Q have also got
Adele, Duffy and Dido in their top 50!
http://www.qthemusic.com/cgi-bin/50bestalbums/month.pl?id=2
Duffy is well worth a place
Adele, however, is not.
Kings of leon is far and away the biggest disappointment of the year......
Only a fucking rag like Q would congratulate a band for going from essential listening to bland, MOR shite!
Surely by now people should know
to not expect much from Q.
yeah, haven't bought it in years but it still bugs me how fucking useless...
they all are. That goes for nme as well.
As thingsThatFly says uncut is good as is mojo.
i'll be interested in uncuts

I remember it being in Mojo's top albums of 2007.
LOL @ Abe Vigoda at 39.
really nice to see The Bug so high and FlyLo near the end.
29. Yeasayer - All Hour Cymbals didnt that come out last year?
that fucked up album is really good
but ac/dc? come on
no deerhunter???
end of year lists are ok, for alerting you to stuff you might have ignored, or missed. but so many of them, just seem to be people putting all the albums they've heard in the year, into the order of how much they liked them.
eh..that last sentence?
hahahahah
"so many of them, just seem to be people putting all the albums they've heard in the year, into the order of how much they liked them."
You heard it here first
it's a definite contender
for unintentionally hilarious post of the year
massive fucking LOL
What do we reckon DiS and P4k #1's will be?
My guess
DiS: Bon Iver
p4k: Deerhunter
I hope DiS isn't Bon Iver
I don't think it will be, although it's not a bad album by any means.
I think your right about p4k though.
microcastles should win everything ever
yeah pretty much
although I'm probibly going for Flying Lotus unless I'm aloud the Skull Disco compilation?
put down your keyboards crits and bloggos
here is the catch all, all purpose end of year list
1. Tasteful pastoral indie rock
2. Pretension masquerading as pop
3. Pseudo stadium
4. Penisless whimpering folk
5. Beard indie
6. Token rap/electronica
7. Band who had an alright album a few years ago
8. Squeally vocalled art rock
9. Woman you fancy, bland country lite
10. Any 2 of the above, mixed with the lightness of touch of a rapist
There you go, can we all stop making lists now?
lol 6
That's not fair
My list has squeally voiced art rock at 5.
:D
I got called prtentious for saying simular but in a less funny and unlisted way on this very thread :(
Jimi, please
don't start mentioning this all the time, like the time that Bloc Party person shouted at you.
heheh
ok
