a man from the label emailed me today asking if i could take a song of theirs out of my blog.
i just generally dislike it when a reviewer admits to not hearing a band's previous material before.
as if they're some up and coming nobodies a bit: "They'll probably get lumped in with the aforementioned Duke Spirit but they deserve to stake their own claim in the indie pop market and if they can supply an album's worth of this next year it'll be well worth a listen."
But I spose it is only a single review, so its not like you need much past knowledge.
You can download 'Into the Chaos' for free if you sign up to the band's mailing list, here: www.howlingbells.net
I like it. It's not the best of the Bells' new songs, but it always seemed the most obvious choice for a single. Apparently, 'Cities Burning Down' will be the next one.
I really cannot wait to hear the rest of the album!
And wasnt Cities Burning Down the b-side to Wishing stone? They opened sets with it throughout the 2006 tour.
i want more of the boy/girl brother/sister singing seen on the penultimate track of the last album 'Into The Woods'. I chatted to them a few times about playing it and they said they hadnt learnt it live. It was my favourite so i told them to sort their fucking act out
It was, yeah. It's been re-recorded twice since then, though. The newest version's on the band's MySpace now. As for 'In the Woods', they've definitely played it live before. I think there's a video on YouTube.
i'm like that sometimes
they hadnt got it down live in March 06, and it didnt raised its head when I last seen them the tour after that in June-ish. But Cities Burning Down sounded davros.
