Mercury Rev Tonight
Anyone got the stage times? Want to work out whether I can see Emmy The Great at Rough Trade without missing the support slot from the Howling Bells...

I saw then in Brighton on Tuesday
and was really dissapointed. The new stuff was rubbish, there was alot of the sub-standard songs from 'Secret Migration' and it was generally not that great.
Seeing as their set at End of the Road of one of my gigs of the year i was really dissapointed.
:-(
I hope they're better in London then...
saw them in Bristol last night and they were top notch,
the new stuff was amazing, it works so much better live than on the album, I suppose you could have accused them of being a little self indulgent but I love all that shit! Jonathan Donahue was on top form throwing all sorts of shapes as well..
From Empire website:
Thu 13 Nov
MERCURY REV
Doors 7pm / Curfew 11pm
7.30pm Support (TBC) / 8.30pm Howling Bells / 9.30pm Mercury Rev
Thanks! :-)
Howling Bells were also really good,
I think I'm in love with Juanita Stein, don't tell my wife though !
totally with you on the Bristol gig
part of me wished they'd ONLY done new stuff, it worked so well
I much preferred the new stuff live
but at the end of the day to me its still pretty bad and just bores me.
Wasnt impressed with the Holwing Bells either. Had never heard them before and thought they had some nice ideas but a complete lack of songs.
listen to the Howling Bells album or see them do a headline gig
of there own, it'll make sense then probably.
fairdos to them for putting there all into it for a half empty venue on a wednesday night.
I cracked up when he was doing all that hands in the air magician stuff with the lights appearing on each band member !
I'm excited about this gig tonight...
I thought they were brilliant at End of the Road and they won me back as a fan again. Can't wait to hear more of their new album played live. Go Grasshopper go!
