yes. is it true the support are the dodos? is there a 2nd support band?
add your attendance below v
Broken Records were supposed to be the second support, but they pulled out- dunno if they've got a replacement.
I'm there tonight, looking forward to it. Can't help but think it could be half empty in there though, quite a bit bigger than the Scala and previously the Luminaire, the last two London shows. Have they really reached SB Empire size? Find out soon enough I guess.
will be in shepherd's bush from about 5 i think, going to wetherspoons to kill time.
i want to go in early to catch the dodos though.
me too. don't worry, this won't be a repeat of BSS..
"They're 20 minutes in"
they will be massive in 6 months. Bit like a more intelligent Hoosiers.
i only agreed to go with my friend because cursive were supporting though. now they aren't and he is mega busy we might try and sell the tickets...
Otherwise I'd have been mega pissed off about not having a ticket
i got my standing ticket late last night!
anyone know what time dodos wil be on?
According the SBE site, with OR on at 9.30.
Don't know either support but can't wait for OR after discovering them at this year's Great Escape :-)
But not as much as Cursive were supporting. I mean good god, that would've been a show
that almost makes up for both Cursive and Broken Records cancelling. It's been a rollercoaster!
Hopefully I'll be there as early as possible as there is little as worse as arriving late at Shepherd's Bush Empire and being stuck next to the bar with people talking :(
anyone want it for £10? im leaving now so phone/txt o7941926843
This'll be the fourth time I've seen them in less than a year. Will Sheff should stop touring and concentrate on writing a proper album.
definitely worth turning up early for.
they have a free ep available from their myspace. and are great live.
Really want to see them live again, but not going to this gig.
their greatness mustn't translate into their live show.
I would have been a lot less polite actually.
But actually, yeah, they were shit.
& nope, don't know the band personally at all, but saw them supporting Throw Me The Statue last month and probably enjoyed them more than TMTS.
The Dodos were entertaining though.
Dodos were amazing. didn't expect the live show to be as good as that
only have Visitor - are there more good records?
and OR tasty as ever.
called Beware of the Maniacs - I've not heard it though
disappointed with the gig last night. They didn't get going until the last few songs. Hardly any interaction with the crowd. Dodo's came across better live than on record. Obviously very talented musicians.
but still pisses on most gigs I've been to this year.
I love Okkervil River so much it's almost unreasonable.
but A Stone was heartbreaking and everything from then on was incredible.
I was a bit worried about seeing them in a big venue - the Luminaire show last year was pretty much my gig of the year. But I'm glad i went, they did themselves proud
first album is well worth a purchase too. I saw them headline at ULU and Hoxton, were completely brilliant. I love Okkervil River on record, but found their live performance a tiny bit repititive.
they really do appear to have 'got big' since The Stage Names. Although a lot of the crowd clearly hadn't heard a OR song in their lives, weird. Anyway thought they were excellent as usual.
Sound was a bit thin, sometimes felt the band was going through the motions, atmosphere wasn't up to much...but it got REALLY GOOD towards the end which made up for it. Not as good as the Luminaire/Scala shows, but I'm glad I went.
