Anyone know who is supporting? And anyone going to Manc gig on Saturday?
want to go to the manc gig.
you must have spent ages trying to find that out!
Jay Jay Pistolet as well but not 100%
but cancelled last minute. I like him too. Hope it is him.
I'm stealing someone else's internet connection, didn't want to overload it with myspace streaming.
I bought the tickets what seems like ages ago. Is it sold out?
Awful crowd full of students who talked all the way through Pete Roe and Jay Jay Pistolet. I don't mean talked though, I mean backs to stage conversation about James Bond, pills they took last night / who they threw up on and utter inane bullshit. The worst crowd I think I've ever been in. JJP said "Thanks for being so polite" three times and "I can't believe you are talking more quite between songs." of course the scumbags couldn't hear him say this so it didn't make any difference.
Other than that and the drunks calling for "New Romantic" during Laura's set it was great. New band members sounding good, Dave doing just as tidy a job as Marcus Mumford on "My Manic & I" with accordion, drums and shaker so no complaints there. Excellent set-list split between full band and solo. Played whole album bar "Typical", "The Captain and The Hourglass" and "Tap At My Window" (actually she might have played this or I may just be remembering hearing the Union Chapel version on the way) for Laura nerds like myself though hearing "Alpha Shallows", "Blackberry Stone", "Made a Maid", "Devil's Spoke", "Ramblin' Man" and 'Christmas' song "Goodbye, England" all on the same night was pretty damn good.
from this list.
Imagine it was much worse at the back. In Aberdeen last week there wasn't anything like that level of chatter and the audience were just as young. I guess the Mercury nomination has got people interested enough to go to the show but not to actually be quiet.
it being a Saturday night and all.
and I'm taking no risks with noisy drunks, I'm going to be at the front
to the Manc gig too! Gig on a saturday, joy!
I entered that competition but haven't heard anything so I'm guessing I didn't win.
Really good gig and no talkers. Though there was a guy stood next to me taking loads of photos and even changing lenses on his SLR which is quite annoying.
in fact I would be surprised if my ear doesn't feature in some of them - he then moved on to holding the camera over my head
to be honest it didn't bother me, but I think Laura Marling must have gotten a bit fed up with it
If so you were probably standing right in front of me.
I did turn my head a few times, but all I could see was a camera lense. I imagine most of those shots will be rubbish because of the angle he was taking them from. Her head was surrounded by a halo from the lighting directly in our line of sight.
Anyway, it was good fun, and it was nice to see the look of anxiety dissolve from Laura Marling's face when people joined in the singing. She has the finest of smiles. I also really liked Peggy Sue - I bought two CDs which I will be listening to later tonight.
It was rammed as well. Didn't mind Peggy Sue, but their kooky folky schtick was a bit much after a while.
had to sell my ticket in the end cos i couldnt make it :'(
3 tickets for the Scala available for face value of £16 each. Please pm if interested. Thanks
