I mean it's a lot to trawl through for a couple o' gems
yeah theres a couple of good 'uns but nothing that really stands out for me. Most of it seems pretty throwaway.
Something I Learned, I Apologise, Never Talking To You Again, Turn On The News, What's Going On, Pink turns to Blue, Standing By The Sea, Re-occurring Dreams, Broken Home Broken Heart etc etc...
not to mention Chartered Trips, I'll Never Forget You, Whatever ... all double albums have a bit of bloat but Zen Arcade has far less than most
it's a fucking double LP from 1984, you're sposeda listen to it at least twice a day for two weeks before you "take it back to the store" and "trade it in" for a Police LP.
the much better double album from SST released in 1984.
both records are all-time classics that are very different and i love them both dearly
Should I have added a ;-D ?
still, you're definitely more of a Minuteman man than a Hüsker Düde.
god i love umlauts
Zen Arcade your favourite Husker Du, Matt?
I'd be hardpressed to say anything else. New Day Rising is a bit too soft sounding, and the chaos of Land Speed Record is wonderful, but it lacks the songwriting of Zen Arcade.
although i've not heard too many of their records, strangely enough. i can't bear the crappy production on a couple of the other ones i've heard, but then i've not spent enough time with their other records i suppose.
New Day Rising I can tolerate, but Flip Your Wig onwards it all sounds dangerously eighties college rock.
i'll probably like the earlier ones a lot though
i used to think it was a bit gash, but plenny goodness on there
