It's not unusual.

I don't really find it that strange. The woman who sits next to me at work doesn't listen to music but she's really passionate about motorbike racing, something I know nothing about. Different strokes for different folks.

because i listen to music so much, it's quite a big part of my life. but yeah, other people have different interests that i don't have, so it's all gravy.

Incidentally, people who like music are cunts and I could never trust them.

In fact, I think the vast majority of the public could be described as having no interest in music.

I don't watch or pay attention to any sports. Many people would find that equally strange.

I have always known that most people ar not interested much in music or Neil Young.
I on the other hand own about 60 albums by him and am now waiting for the shows to begin (it is better to be me).

I don't like watching films. Some people might think that's weird.

it is a bit odd. Loads of people don't read fiction either. People are strange. I don't really object to such people, but I don't think I could go out with one of them.

I can only think of 4 actual real world friends who like music to DiS-esque levels. There are a few more who enjoy going to festivals in the summer and will come and watch the likes of J.E.W or Interpol as long as they're not working the next day or anything, but most people don't really care.

Either they'll associate music with being in their teens or as the soundtrack to moments in their lives and/or they'll be the 4 albums per year crew who buy all of their records at Tesco.

We are the freaks, not they.

and I honestly believe it's one of the main reasons we don't get along at all. Our personalities are just so different because of my extreme love for music and their not understanding it. I really just can't fathom how they don't listen to ANY music, even casually.

because that really doesn't make sense. You don't like music? ANY music? I mean, it can take a lot of effort to be a "music listener" so to speak, especially if you're a bit older I expect, but saying "I don't like music" is is exactly the same as saying "I don't like films" or "I don't like books", which seems rather general to me.

I think it's unlikely they don't listen to music at all, or go out of their way to avoid it, but it's pretty easy to imagine some people just don't buy CDs, listen to the radio or watch music television. It's the same as people who don't watch films, television, go to art galleries, read books (this is far more concerning than music, in my opinion) or indulge in other artistic outlets. Nevertheless, I'd probably find it hard to relate to these people as listening to music is just one of those things almost everyone I've met/befriended has in common.
