New Howling Bells song
'Into The Chaos'.
Pretty good, but not a show-stopping piece of brilliance like 'Low Happening' or 'Blessed Night'.
Hopefully better is to come.
Its on their myspace btw.

On the other hand,
'Cities Burning Down', that bside they sometimes play at shows, is up there with their best.
I really love 'Into The Chaos'
almost, almost as much as the stuff on their debut.
one more self-reply
Howling Bells are the most Glastonburyish band I think of when I think of the pretty little dreamy woods bits you walk through like where the wishing tree and stuff is and the stone circle (not just because of the lyric) yet they've never fucking played it.
like this
first listen.
Is this the new single?
This year hopefully?
You going again?
It's good.
And while I agree with you that it's not as amazing as some of their other songs, it's still leagues ahead of a lot of stuff in a similar vein that is on offer. Etc., etc.
That bridge-y bit at around two minutes and ten seconds is pretty swell, though. Beautiful.
Come on

But, yeah, it's ok. Nothing special. She's cut all her hair off and blatantly been instructed to make herself more 'sexy'. It's thingy from the Zutons all over again.
What are you on about? 'Come on'?
And as if you fucking trawled back to find that, just to post it in here. Why do you give a fuck if there was a thread about it before?
Low Happening is extraordinary
their best!
and Juanita is still a babe
wish theyd get a bit more support on their home shores though, they get a bit of a slagging here
Slagging
yeahs Australias full of such bright punters they love Ben - nursery rhyme - Lee
I really like it
it sounds really good in a timeless sort of way. I dont think it will age or get tired over time, it's just got that sound to it, sounds very 90s but not in the dated sorta way. Good sign because I always saw them as a band that would either improve over time or just drop the ball horrificly.
Have any of you heard their stuff
as Waikiki?
Yeah
I heard one or two. Sounded ok, but I wasn't a big fan.
I find it really weird seeing the likes of NME
going nuts over Howling Bells, when to me they are just a slightly "darker" Waikiki.
Not that I think that's a bad thing. I really liked "I'm Already Home". "New Technology" and "Complicated" are particularly good. But when they split up and (half)reformed as Howling Bells, and NME fell all over themselves to laud them, they just sounded (and still do) like Waikiki.
Anyone not in love with this band is officially dead inside
I'm loving this song - and it sounds amazing live too.
Honestly, some of the shite people come up with on here to criticise bands... a fucking haircut?!?!?
A male lead singer can change his haircut but if a woman changes her hair "she's blatantly been told to make herself more sexy"
Wanker.
Im with u
dude. st nick, come on or whatever he calls himself is one of those people who is obsessed with style and not substance. he should move to ...to.... melbourne!! yeah thats it
I am one of the least stylish people ever
Well, that and the slinky dancing
whereas before she just played her guitar and mumbled a bit. Into The Chaos is alright, but its all a bit over-produced.
And the lyrics are a bit nothing.
no
they fucking dont. get yr head out of your arse and you might see the sun...dickhead
Ooh! Abuse!
Thanks.
I'd be very interested to hear your account of the enormous differences in sound. Would you mind?
They're just a poor man's All About Eve
Into the Chaos sounded great at Field Day
Cities Burning Down sounds great on the radio. Isn't the album coming out in February? That's AGES yet.
dull dull dull
all the hackneyed rock moves with their guitars, the wannabe Greenwood sounds, the silly pretensious U2 cowboy hats, the sexy chick smooch at the camera, its all so.....LAAAAAAME!!!!! no wonder bella union dropped them.
So THAT is what happened.
Wondered why they weren't on BU anymore.
Agreed
They're pretty damned boring
