anyone seen that?
have predicted the responses this album has been getting, especially from DiS (well, the review anyway, as most people on here still seem to like them). Fuck reviews, I think they're genuinely a hugely talented and interesting band, who've written a brilliant and 'original' (in the sense that within the style they play they really stand out, for me at least) record. Long live TTNG.
I don't think the record is to wanky at all, not in the slightest. I think this backlash is a lil harsh really. TTNG are wicked.
a little overly harsh, but andy malcolm has his finger on the pulse when it comes to this kind of music.
i really liked animals the first once or twice i heard it, but it really, really doesn't stand up to repeated listens. the twiddles and vocal melodies get extremely samey and boring.
He moans about the guitar widdle and then blames it on the influence of Tim Kinsella and Cap'n Jazz. As far as I know, Tim only plays guitar in his solo stuff, JoA and played a few chords in O
...wls. He's not really considered to be a guitarist in Owls/Make Believe, I would've thought that would've been Victor Villereal, or Sam Zurich. No?
Anyway, starting a review without actually listening to a record once is pretty lame. I don't think we'll lose sleep over it.
the record's cracking, and you guys are great fun to interview. So screw 'im.
anywhere in the review
just Tim Kinsella. i somehow doubt Owls and Make Believe would have existed/sounded the same without him.
you obviously are losing sleep otherwise you wouldnt have posted a myspace bulletin about how bad a review it is, and you wouldnt have challenged it on here.
its only one guys opinion, but andy knows his emo, that much can't really be denied.
"WIDDLE WIDDLE WIDDLE. Tim fucking Kinsella you have so much to answer for!"
read to me like he was writing about the guitar work. I'm pretty sure "WIDDLE WIDDLE WIDDLE" isn't a lyric on the record anywhere. Apologies if I'm mistaken.
Our drummer posted the review cos he thought it was so bad that it would make people laugh. It certainly made us chuckle. I'm sure this Andy chap does know his emo though. Good for him. I think we're just going to have to disagree on our opinions.
I'm bored now.
Screw the review and come watch them play live!

that much though that review is way over the top.
That is all.
well it wasn't singing their praises from the rooftops or anything but that's good enough for me.
