Who's going? I'm bloody excited.
at Elbow innit.
I'll be at Mogwai.
Should be cool :)
and I wasn't just there for good ol'Moggers - but support in the form of Errors & Fuck Buttons got me tingling about this night!
Nobody let me down - it was a tiring 3 hours of music - v.little vocals (as you would expect) - the smell of grass floating around whenever somebody's favourite chill out tune got played - lots of people with their eyes closed - taking it al in!
Errors drummer - albeit a little too happy with himself - great action to watch!
2nd song for Fuck Buttons - the mad "cuck-koo" type vocals & spinning dance
& the last song of the night - BATCAT - simply stunning live - great riff!!! - not quite as loud as MBV at the end - but ear plugs would have been handy!
but fuck buttons had me disappointed at the start as their first 5 songs or something was exactly the same set as I saw them do here a year ago.
only have 6 songs on their album anyway..don't they? that is a bit lazy! a Klaxons-esq stunt in my eyes!
It always always makes me feel good. No matter how many times I've heard it. It just hums and hangs in the air and it's wonderful.
but some douche behind me who kept trying to sing/howl along and whooping kinda ruined it. Also I expected a bit more from them to be honest. Their newer stuff was quite interesting, some faster dancier beats and undertones, but with the more primal sounds layered on top. Definitely picked up then. Before it just seemed abit like they were going through the motions.
First time I'd seen Mogwai and they didn't disappoint! I was seriously glad I'd brought my earplugs though, the bass was affecting my breathing at one point!
Missed the first 5 minutes of Errors, but I saw them support 65dos earlier this year so wasn't too miffed. Fuck Buttons were great, I've got the album and was wondering how it would be live, and it was great!
i hadn't heard much mogwai before, just a couple of albums but they were top notch and the bass shook me quite a few times it was so LOUD!
Errors, even though i only caught the last 4 songs (stupid trains grr) were fantastic, better live than on the album. Fuck Buttons were also great, the new songs sound so good and i literally cant wait for the new album hope it comes soon!
towards the end of mogwai's set - I could feel my face wanting to leave my head -in waves it attacked me! brilliant! it's always good being trapped in a sensory bombardment! but I have to say - MBV really spoilt it for me at the Apollo earlier this year - nothing will beat their last song for a pure "stick that in your pipe and smoke it - for 30 minutes"!
I went with earplugs this time and my lugs are thanking me for it today. That encore combo of Like Herod and Batcat was still brutal, mind. Great to hear Christmas Steps and Cody too.
Though that tool who kept shouting 'SONIC YOUTH!' all the way through was pretty annoying.
total idiot. The end was insane, I could feel my whole chest cavity vibrating. Intense.
so I didn't hear his constant shouts! Mr Braithwaite seemed a little annoyed too! It drives me insane - when people take it up on themselves to shout out constantly during gigs! They are following me around too - I went to watch the Mighty Boosh in Blackpool last week - fucking retard women shouting out the most random of things just before punchlines! annoyed the hell out of me!
so I was getting an earful of shite for most of the night. He was a fair bit bigger than me though so I couldn't do much about it.
I wouldn't mind, but nobody laughed the first time he shouted out.
