Very sad to hear that Dorian had a stroke :(
Info here:- http://thisisoffset.co.uk/?p=231
the singer is a female, surely?
That is sad news though, hope his condition improves.
The article doesn't suggest otherwise, does it?
I thought they were rubbish until the second was released, which I really liked. Tough call for Dorian, poor sod :(
it says the main songwriter and guitarist, not singer, is male...so it doesn't suggest otherwise.
thats been changed.
it said singer about 25 mins ago
that's a sad end, i played with them once in france, and they were just not nice, so i never wished them any good since then. but i'm not happy that they split though.
Why were they 'not nice'? - tell me tell me!
not hello not goodbye to the supporting bands and to the venue crew, 1 and 1/2 hour soundcheck leaving no time for the others, irritating tour manager breaking everyone's balls, very short set, left the stage visibly disappointed for people hadn't danced enough to their music, want more ? disgusting xs cheap monday jeans dividing every members bum into 4 pieces, making the show hard to watch from backstage ! ...
he had been on speed for 3 days though
i cant ever remember this happening before to a band that was still packing decent venues out and that i still liked so much.
@ The Last Days of Decadence in Shoreditch. www.myspace.com/twistedlicks you can guestlist yourself for £6 @ leylinepromotions.com too.
Absolutely gutted about Dorian, how sad that he might not be able to play guitar again.
This is a harsh JAG.
that is terrible. unimpressed.
I love the Long Blondes :(
Loved them also. Fulwood Babylon = best b side ever.
but anyone who writes a song called Peterborough is alright in my book. Sad to hear about the guitarist though...
this is just heartbreaking news.
They were my favourites to dance to back in the indie days. They fucking knew EXACTLY where it was at - lyrically, melodically, rhythmically.
Their 80s direction was horrible, mind. And I think splitting here will do them favours, in terms of how they're looked back on.
Its like with Franz Ferdinand. They're going to get gradually worse than their very good debut. Eventually they'll fade away, and will be playing shit sized venues to shit crowds.
At least these guys went out on a relatively high note.
Get well soon Dorian.
I hope he gets well soon.
So things could be worse. But the second album was pretty poor apart from 'Century'. Their best song is and always will be 'Giddy Stratospheres' - what a tune!
Anyone else get their 'Singles' compilation today?
I really hope he makes a full recovery. They made some really great songs.
I really enjoyed that first album especially. I filmed them upstairs at the Garage at a Flook night. Time flies....
I love both records, but Nostalgia on the second one is a masterpiece. Poor old Dorian. I've always thought he must be pretty nice since he apparently missed a magazine interview to visit his gran.
I'm in shock, I didn't know it was a stroke. Hope he gets better soon and that it isn't really all over! :( :(
but apparently Kate is already working on solo plans?
The most cloying thing about it and its sponsorship by a national newspaper being that it was clearly written and sent for consideration before the journalist was made aware that the split wasn't out of choice, hence that pasted in "actually they had some really good songs" second paragraph, which given they spend the rest of the piece going "look at me listing bands I don't like!" is astonishingly jarring.
