preferably most accessible.
Either of those. OK - Neu! to start. But get both in the end as they're both fantastic.
Perfect psych-drone bliss.
To be fair though I haven't heard Neu!75 yet, I'm led to believe that's equally as good.
neu! and neu!'75 are critically considered the best most people i know who like neu! would probably say neu!2. if swayed i would probably go for neu!'75 for the opening 2 tracks and hero.
my advice would be to start with '75 as it's probably the most accessible
yeah Neu! (i.e the first one) is far 'dronier' and hypnotic. Neu 75 is more melodic...Michael Rother dominating side 1 and totally aiming at Harmonia, and Klaus Dinger's stuff on side 2 is total proto-punk rockingness. 75 is probably the more accessible of the two. My girlfriend who likes Take That listens to Neu 75 when she's cooking.
it's the most representative of what they're about. That said, I started with Neu! 2, and it's still my favourite. Contains some of their best music, though side 2 (basically speeded up, slowed down and mangled versions of other songs) can be an acquired taste. 75 doesn't do it for me quite as much as the first two, but still great. Avoid the semi-bootleg Neu! 4 and live album.
On a related note, are any of Rother's solo albums worth getting? I've heard he goes a bit New Age/muzaky.
what you class as new age. They're more similar to his stuff on '75 and the Harmonia albums which always feel a bit newage/muzaky to me.
'Negativland' is on the first one.
i can't read
Not so sure about some of the less rhythmic tracks.
There's only three albums.
They're all brilliant.
Start at the beginning.
Then buy them all.
