.... fucked up/damaged/spaced out .... in the vein of wooden wand, skip spence, 'the madcap laughs' etc ....
i loved his 'old fog' album but haven't been too keen on what i've heard since .... charles manson eh, are you talking about 'the love and terror cult' album? i've been wondering whether to get that for a while actually .... hmmm
Might be worth a try http://www.last.fm/music/Pink+Reason
I got his record. It's a bit scary though, beware.
http://singersong.homestead.com/files/bobb_trimble_-_iron_curtain_innocense.jpg the album cover is appropriately creepy
but that album cover is great. and one guy on rateyourmusic describes it as 'elliot smith if he'd listened to comus and early pink floyd' .... which is pretty much exactly what i'm after! cheers ....
than Songdog (http://www.myspace.com/songdog1). One of the best lyricists around, and painfully honest and poetic. Try the album 'The Time Of Summer Lightning'.
I'd recommend I N Fused.
Must've been ages since I've been on myspace because its completely different.
Anyways, it has a rather interesting cover of paranoid on there which I rather like.
Cat Power's early albums are immensely spaced out - 'What Would The Community Think' is amazing. Mark Eitzel's solo stuff is amazingly intense, and damaged I'd say - http://www.myspace.com/markeitzel
I've been really enjoying Hush Arbors aka Keith Wood lately too. Tempted by his upcoming shows.
Before he turned Fog into a full band.
Fog's Ether Teeth is a brilliant turntablist-acoustic singer-songwriter album. The man can't sing for shit, but he fails in such a heartfelt way that you can't help but be moved.
David Ackles???!! He may have been good but I'd hardly use the phrases spaced-out or fucked up.
You may enjoy early Kevin Coyne stuff and also George Brigman's 'Jungle Rot' LP.
maybe try j.w. farqhuar too
It's not that screwed up though. Ace all the same
you won't be dissapointed
recommend Bobb Trimble enough. Unsettling, beautiful and cosmic. Good shout.
