From The City To The Sea, Sandbag Your Heart and Steamroller are class. Didn't they ever record Tom Verlaine for Peel then?
Good band though, i used to love them, and saw them a load of times. I used to think they were really loud, with their three guitars and stuff. Listened again and they really weren't at all. In the early 90's no one who produced an indie record had any idea how to record a guitar did they?
The Tell Em We're Surfing mini-album is a minor classic in my house.
I'm all over this later.
Furthest From the Sun, change their name to something good and then take over the world. That album is amazing. Now then, who saw them where? Could be a brilliant list of retro-venues.
Salisbury Arts Centre
Pheonix Fest X2
Bournemouth BIC (supporting Carter USM)
Reading I think
More than that for sure.
around 90/91 time.
So all they got from me was a very excited fourteen year-old jumping up and down on his bed to Airplane Gardens before digging through their back catalogue and spending Christmas Day 1994 listening to the christmas 7" on repeat.
Jesus Christ. Absolute classic.
Other than that, Phoenix, a festival warm up with Mint 400 in Tunbridge Wells, and a couple of London shows I think.
And Great Xpectations as well.
Thats when Carter came out of the Towere Bridge towers at the beginning. I was more a Family Cat fan than I was Carter, but Carter were better than expected that night.
God bless DiS for so many of us getting excited by the Family Cat!
I think Mucky Pup may have been the other support.
Absolute classic. Still goes down well in my DJ sets to this day!
in Rayleigh, Essex. Pretty sure I saw them there and some pub in Southend as well. My mates band Cod (not Cud)supported them.
Elvis Belt still gets the odd play on the record player from time to time...
Amazeds there were others on here old enough to have been at that BIC Cater/Family Cat show. Oh what a night.
