I have 2 qQuestions
a) has Aquafresh been issued, and where do I get it from?
b) What is the news on the Burial remixes?
...
a) nope not yet but you can hear it on the rinse fm on people like Dusk & Blackdowns show which happens to be tommorw night. They usualy play the odd bit of Zomby but it will no doubt be one so up front and fresh its not even heard of yet the fast moving swines.
b) no idea Burial is an enigma no info comes out about him until the records and tunes drop, its a waiting game.
Aquafresh is up on the Zomby myspace
its good
http://www.myspace.com/zombyproductions
I put myself on the Hyperdub mailing list, about two weeks ago, but so far it's been very quiet.
they are very sporadic
the emails from them, I've had one in like a year or so...
Aquafresh is insane I love it.
People just talk about Burial no one but him self and probibly kode 9 have a clue whats goin on from what I can gather. Which is pretty mad considering how big he is and how much evefrything else leaks so easily.
I've gone a bit crazy about Kinsella-core
and I'm hoping to go though Math-Rock during the rest of the year using this as a guide
http://www.drownedinsound.com/articles/3205162
that is an ace artical
I'm gently workin my way thru teh odd bit of that as well there is so much good stuff.
Don Callabero - American Don
is my current focus. You need a cool head for this music.
I keep meaning to get some Don Cab
it sure does keep you on your toes
they are touring UK in November
I have a clash on every day they are here
I'm going to try to see them in Leeds on 10/11/08, but I'm surposed to be chairing a meeting that night - this is testing my loyalty
* 11/11/08, not 10/11/08
ooo gutted
maybe take the meeting to the gig?
I'm not really sure how these meetings work to be honest heheh
probably like this
I suggest my deputy chairs the meeting, however, as he alays fights with two other people, everyone will suddenly realise that the following day would be more convenient anyway.
hahah
good work ;)
They're pretty bad now.
They play medleys of the old material.
Medleys = :[
hly sht!
new Squarepusher and Dungen albums out soon. That's my top 2 of the year sorted then
oh god
Squarpusher of course :)
I dunno who Dungen are but sounds promising if you are recomending.
they are very very very very good
i think you'll like them
sweet
I will put them on my list...
I dont have a list but I will just check um out later yeah
these them?
http://www.myspace.com/dungen
Seadish post-jazz-bluse-rock-hop-fuzz-core?
That's them
2004's "Ta Det Lugnt" was a bit of an underground hit at the time - lots of end-of-year lists and the like. Meaning you can probably pick it up cheap somewhere, which you are advised to do.
wicked
I like the sound of it on the myspace and I just checked a site I write on and there is a review up of them so there really is no excuse for me missing them hehehheh
I'm looking forward to buying these goodies
Venetian Snares- Dentrimentalist
Distance- My Demons
Some more Taraf De Haidouks albums
Rolo Tomassi- Hysterics
Bjork- Volta
Daughters!- Hell Songs
Eero Johannes- S/T (RECOMMENDED!!)
nice
Distance has a new 12" out with Pinch soon I think the tunes have been around for ages but are finaly coming out.
Rolo is ace
I have no idea what the rest of them are but the capitalised RECOMENDED might be a clue for checkin Eero Johannes out
Yes!
Definitely check Eero out, I saw him at the Mu party, he's very 80's sounding but very cute and bouncy. Didn't know about the Pinch/Distance release, that'll be lurrrvely. Distance destroyed last Saturday, who would have thought metal could be mutated into dubstep?!
have you heard Forsaken?
he has made some country and western into dubstep its very strange indeed.
Eero Johannes sounds wicked
Haha, awesome!
I'll be having a look into that now...
nice
http://www.myspace.com/eerojohannes
he makes some good bleeps

Currently digging
Grails
The Sight Below
The Alps
and everything Aidan Baker touches. The man is a genius; Nadja have relased about 5 solid gold albums this year, his solo stuff is beautiful and his collaboration with Tim Hecker is out in two weeks.
thats a bit prolific
I've heard a bit of Grails on Boomkat its sounds nice.
He's insanely prolific
Just checked and he also has a new double disc solo record out on Oct 28. I swear he's trying to bankrupt me.
Grails are pretty much the best thing ever; no instrumental band even comes close to matching them. New record out on Monday which I'm creaming myself over in anticipation.
bloody people making ace music
I sware they wana bankrupt us all!
if by Grails you mean Autechre, then yes
I'm excited about the next ae album, even though I know it'll be 2½ years away.
Didn't know Aidan had a double disc one due out - I've only recently started buying his solo stuff, since I didn't want to be in a situation where I'd like it and decide to buy it all, which would be madness. I plan to do it, though.
Though Nadja completism is easy enough, as long as they keep reissuing the crazy rare stuff.
errrrrr
Troubles Books UK release of The UNited Colours of Trouble Books on new label MIE! 1st November.
haha, slightly unsubtle maybe.
p.s
only_shallow, the collab with Tim Hecker is proper sublime stuff, I can't stop listening to it. I actually just ordered the vinyl version online, only 500 white copies available.
I have to agree
It is ace the trouble books. I have been lucky enough to get a copy to review and I bloody love it.
Hmmmm
I can't wait here Eugene Mcguinness's debut full length, loved the EP.
Deerhoof's Offend Maggie should be good.
Also kind of excited about Jay-Z's Blueprint 3.
Deerhoof are alkways interesting
I heard a track off Blueprint 3 on Westwood the other night with TI and Kanye? I think it was pretty cool.
Lil Wayne
was in there some where too I think
Sounds good
There's obviously the chance it'll be a sack of shit like Blueprint 2, but he was def back on form with Amerincan Gangster so fingers crossed, eh. Blueprint 1 was what originally got me into Hip Hop, so I have a soft spot for his music.
yeah Jay Z has a soft spot with me
after this years fests.
I also rate Eugene McGuiness
saw him at Green Man Festival
Yeh, I saw him at a music event
I can't remember the name of in Nottingham a bit ago, and he was brilliant. Really brilliant. Went on my own and his set made it all worthwhile.
The hardcore records i ordered off interpunk coming
and a deny everything EP and vinyl that went to my home by accident.
In terms of new stuff i havent got yet, the Rolo Tomassi album, the new Fucked Up album, new SSS album.
theres a few more but cant think of them off the top of my head right now.
I saw you gettin excited about the interpunk order from the US
that sounds a biut good to me.
Fucked Up is one I shall have to get my hands on I reckon.
I'm tryin to put Rolo into words at the mo for a review the blighters are hard to pin down, I think this is why I love um.
yeah im doing a review of their live show the other day
basically i think if you use like four adjectives in a row, it works quite well.
the interpunk stuff i order is great :D
swing kids discography picture vinyl
negative approach- tied down
judge- discography
a dischord LP with teen idles, SOA, Government Issue and someone else ive forgotten that are good
Germs- GI
not gonna leave the house for a few days when i get those bad boys
man that is a good list
you really aint going anywhere :D
I did a live review on my blog as a warm up jusy to get things flowing as I happened to be seeing them anyway.
I'm just going to write a whole load of stuff and make my editor do some work... he is good at do that. not on the blog of course the editor is me their I will post any old shit heheh
ha yeah i could do with an editor for my blog really
sometimes i need people to tell me 'nah that sentence is bollocks' because i often dont notice for some reason.
cheers, cant wait to get my hands on it
I just do the blog for kicks and out of boardum really
its a bonus if people read it and find it interesting.
when I write for other people I genraly spout the same crap but let them polish it a little, oh and I guess I spend more than a few hours on it too when it comes down to it.
:D
yeah i'm mainly doing mine just as a bit of practise
in my spare time. im sure if i spent an hour or so more on all of them i coudl write something a lot better but oh well
for me
MC Rut
Jim Jones Revue
New Vinyls
Thank you 6 music.
I've not heard of any of um
MC Rut is a hell of a name mind, hiphop? Grime? Poetry?
i think
it stands for Middle Class Rut (a clever pun...)
reminds me of rival schools, though i may be put right.
heheh
wicked :)
I have never given 6 music a chance you know, and I have no idea why...
avoid it before 4pm
and you may find it worth your time
good shout
all bbc radio is best later in the day I find.
Jim Jones Revue <3
I was just thinking of them today. Even if they do only have one song that I actually like.
Recently
Maria and the Mirrors
The new plug single is excellent
as is the new Electricity in Our Homes single. I think cutting down to a three piece has worked well for them
Natural Snow Bindings. I've just heard them and I need more
the new Death Sentence: Panda! CD. I am yet to actually hear this though
I have no idea about any of this
Death Sentence: Panda! sounds like a good name though
i like Maria and the Mirrors!
saw them at Offset and I was really intrigued by them
need to hear the new Electricity in Our Homes single too as I got into them a few months ago but kinda abandoned them.. should get back into the loop
animal collective
whatever they do next.
I keep seeing Bradford Cox of Deerhunter
goin on about Animal Colective yet I still haven't heard much of them. I'm pretty sure I'm a fool...
get Strawbery Jam
I guarantee that you will love it.
thats the one from last year aint it
I have been meaning to grab it ever since. I get very distracted heheheh
its one of the first recommendations
I got from DiS noticeboards, as I came along after its release, but a lot of people raved about it
Its one of the best albums I ever bought. Definately 10/10; without flaws (IMHO).
sounds excelent
I have found quite a lot of good stuff on these boards I don't think I can remember the first now.
One of the first posts I made though was about a Atlas Sound remix of Liars and Mike Diver replyed to me that was nice, me being so new and all.
jimi
check out my blog, its got a load of their stuff on there and related stuff. and then of course buy it.heh
your blogs a bloody gold mine
I will have to have a good root around for that ;)
the panda bear album
from last year was pretty good, jimi. he's in animal collective, got album of the year from pitchfork i think.
am waiting on the buraka som sistema album. seems like it will never arrive.
yeah I've seen Panda Bear
stuff around to and heard bits. its all good.
water curses
was equally as excellent as strawberry jam
nice
New ZZ Top album
I keep going on about them, but the new one is Rick Rubin produced, supposed to be like Tres Hombres. Joy.
If I was in the UK, I'd be excited about going to see Mark Sultan at the Dirty Water Club. Genius.
I'm also currently excited about Zookeepers - just reviewed their free to download album on artrocker. Very fine.
http://www.artrocker.com/reviews/albums/zookeepers
ZZ Top cool
My mum saw them suporting Clapton once...
I will check ya scribles
Of Montreal
Good call
on the Zookeepers Dave
that be some gnarley shit
PS enjoyed your KOL review by the way - harsh but quite close to the truth methinks
Oh yes I will have to grab that
it looks like its a very interesting listen.
Anything will be good
after the dire dissapointment of the new Mercury Rev album. Pah.
But am looking forward to the new Euros Childs record 'Cheers Gone' which is out in a couple of weeks.
3 albums i really wanna get that come out on my birthday
october 21st

I'm still excited about deerhunter
and I got the leak them a promo of it to review, I must of heard it about 60 times by now at least heheheh
Gang Gang Dance is very good too...
I'm also
