But we're in a state of transition blah blah blah, stuff could change etc etc etc.
but its all in flux aint it so it is expected it was goin to slow down.
i'm fairly sure i've had at least one article comment deleted as well.
DiS used to be great.
now look what's on the front page: a set list and photos of the cutting edge band that is metallica.
A review of a festival that happened 3 weeks (or more?) ago.
A mixtape (ok, that's good)
and then two track-by-tracks of reasonably similar sounding bands.
the content has been a bit dull the past couple of weeks, both news and reviews have been so slow.
You wouldn't say it if itwas Radiohead or soemthing
it's the MAIN FEATURE and all it is is a couple of sentences, a set list and shit loads of photos.
I don't think any band deserve to be the main feature with just that.
but I do think Metallica are worthy of a main feature. Maybe I misinterpreted the post, because I thought it meant that Metallica were the wrong band to have a main feature on DiS. And this isn't supposed to sound bitchy, by the way :)
i did make it out they don't deserve main feature when they're one of the biggest bands in the world.
but anyway, it's the fact all it is is a set list and some photos, I could get that off any other website :(
because of how 'loud' Death Magnetic is, so that translates.
this is true ^^
reviews have been total shite recently. Bring the Diver back...
he ran around the place like it was his won little fiefdom. wouldnt mind so much if a lot of his reviews and opinions were not so blatantly misinformed.
where? The internet? Pillock.
Sean took a lot on, be patient.
In the same sort of thing that justin lee does.
All paid staff were let go.
in a minute
So he can demand $5000 like Mark Hamill? :p
i know i've said this a few times but please bare with us, i've only been back running the site for a few weeks. there was two, maybe three weeks of no cds going out and a lot of other stuff for me to deal with (the small matter of securing funding to invest in the future of dis has been top of my agenda).
dis had until recently many full and part time staff and there was a lot more going up. now it's just me, tom waddington our fantastic tech guy and a lot of goodwill from a lot of great people and i think threads like this disrespect them a lot more than me.
there's also the small matter of a new site coming together for october 2nd (see http://www.drownedinsoundtest.com for bug-riddled work in progress )
the next week or two will be a bit more like the past few weeks (thinner than this time last month when everyone was made redundant) but then there's a whole heap of things that i've commissioned and special things coming up.
it's quite a mammoth task relearning how to run the site and especially for me relearning how to write (i was only contributing a couple of things every few months) and learning how to sub-edit (unlike mike i have no formal education for such things).
however i agree the metallica thing maybe isn't perfect for the frontpage of dis, least of all for quite so many days, however it has been hugely popular and is one of the most hit articles of the year. a lot of the kind of content i want to run will be a lot easier to feature when the redesign is finished and active.
one thing tho, i don't think that threads like this particularly help anyone, there's no charge to read dis and never will be. there are a lot more constructive ways of getting what you want and i'd just like to say thank you to all the people out there i've been a great help at this strange time and to others who've been incredibly supportive.
and as i'm going to be writing more articles from now on the aggregate quality is going to shoot up like a crackwhore on a bad midnight.
i'll do the news if you want?
no joke, seriously.
So? There's no charge to read any music site I can think of, bar what I pay to my Broadband site.
It's like Mike Ashley is in charge of DiS as well now.
One of which I am now (just about to begin) running.
but I'd like to give the site a bit more time.
are Metallica staying up for?
Where's the review of the Tomassi album? Or the new Mogwai album?
Or is it just I can't find them? Moan moan moan.
it'll be fine when the content is back on track. chill out people
spoke too soon?
