The usual drill: where to start, etc.
richard d james? drukqs? the two best in my opinion..
for gods sake get that
There are a number of them.
Or shall I just burn a hole in my wallet and get all of them?
once you get one, you'll wanna get them all anyway. but if you're strapped for cash, start with selected ambient works 85-92 and work your way chronologically into the future.....
get the TUSS material also.
The Rushup Edge EP is spacktackular!
for some early chilled out stuff with a bit of a techno pulse, its so beautiful and quite straight forward.
Window Licker & Come To Daddy EPs will probibly get you in quite easily too as they are massivley addictive and the B-sides and other tracks are ace as well.
Druqks is pretty mad but if you like some strange stuff you may well get into it eventualy I really like it.
Richard D James album lots of people say that one I haven't managed to grab it yet.
AFX stuff like Chosen Lords for some mad acid dance floor workouts and some of his more recent work.
When you find a way in there really is no going back heheh
then what he said.
Go for both volumes of Selected Ambient Works. Also, Come to Daddy and Windowlicker.
Drukqs is unpopular, but I like it. Most of his stuff is a bit naff, to be fair.
He did a rather fun album with Mike Paradinas (µ-Ziq) called Expert Knob Twiddlers. It's nice.
"Reg" and "Jelly Fish" are pure fun
Also, µ-Ziq is [generally] far better than RDJ. So - of µ-Ziq's stuff, I'd go for:
In Pine Effect
and Full Sunken Breaks (as Kid Spatula)
bu bu bu ba
i was not aware of this consensus
I don't know if there's been a reappraisal since.
I like it a lot. Especially the piano pieces.
still havent tried that 'play both discs at the same time' malarky. does that actually work?
it really works in some parts, some parts it's just a noisy, beat-mismatched mess. but it's still pretty fun.
compared to his other stuff.
- SAW85-92 is excellent and you should get that first if you're interested in his earlier works
- SAW2 is very ambient but has two discs
- drukqs is good although it's also a two disc album
- On is a beautiful little EP
richard d james
to be fair if anywhere, you may as well start here.
It's his most accessible, in a funny drill'n'bass kinda way. It's also his best. Buy pls tanx x
Rushup Edge LP [The Tuss]
That should see you afx'd
That is all, thank you please.
where's your girlfriend, too.
i wonder where their girlfriends were!?
only, a decade or so late
and richard d james. and drukqs too maybe. fuck selected ambient bullcrap
and the On EP. And then stop.
I haven't listened to his other stuff in years, the odd track aside. Annoying gimmicky man.
and the Polygon Window record.
so don't read it
is what it says it is, in a nosebleed techno kinda way
or listen to Girl Boy
