I was listening to Pink Floyd this morning.
the odds they'll play 'wish you were here' at the funeral
more likely. Wish You Were Here was Syd's song.
the ex-Ipswich, Everton and West Ham keeper then had to look again at the age...65!
his keyboards are so underrated in Floyd (everyone applauding Gilmour's guitar and Barrett's lyrics)... that's a real shame :(
him compose Us & Them on the Darkside tapes is truly inspirational. Gutted I didn't get the chance to see them live. Shine on.
debt to these guys in my upbringing having spent hours and hours of my life listening to them in awe.
Truly sad :=(-
What else is there to say?
pink floyd will live forever!
Sad news. R.I.P.
There's no way to mention Great Gig in the Sky without sounding crass or cheesy, but I will be playing that in his honour later.
Going to listen to Echoes for the zillionth time now and marvel at his keyboard genius.
Such an underrated cog in the band. He had a hand in most of their best tracks from 'Us and Them' to 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond'. RIP.
first david foster wallace, now rick wright. really bad news this week. i litened echoes, shine on and us and them today then i opened uncut website...
No chance of anyone doing PATGOD stuff properly now, since only Rick and Syd sung on it.
a real actual shame.
and say hello to Syd for us.
is Remember A Day, which was written and sung by him. "Why can't we play today" sends shivers down my spine every time I play it.
Its often overlooked that after Barrett, his was the main creative input on Piper At The Gates Of Dawn. Didn't have much of an ego from what I can make out, was happy to go along with what Barrett, Waters and later Gilmour did.
Whatever people say about Pink Floyd (i think they are an amazing band), no-one can deny the influence they have had on modern music and Richard played a very important part in that. He will be sorely missed.
I just listened to The Great Gig In The Sky in his honour.
A real tragedy, he had some really fine moments over the course of all their albums, and was very underrated compared to other members of the band.
His work on Piper At The Gates Of Dawn is incredible.
A truly sad piece of news :(
