It's quite impressive. Just made a very shoe-rave playlist
a bit ho hum so far but it has potential
it's probably better for less savvy people.
it's weird how it gets compared to Last.fm, when the purpose of it makes me think a little more of Amazon
it creates playlists based on it
you can buy from the Apple store.
I found it pretty interesting but that's as far as it goes.
The visualiser (Ctrl and t) ithink to activate it is nuts! Amazing.
I was using one called Magnetosphere that was like this but the whole ball in the middle bit is outstanding!
that somehow analyses your library’s genres and then recommends you music they think you would enjoy.
I thought the new iPods they launched last week had Genius capability built into them. Am I wrong, or are you referring to previous generations of iPods? (Or the other option, are you wrong? ;))
It looks alright-ish, from the few playlists I've let it create in iTunes. Probably won't be perfect, but it's an interesting alternative to shuffle mode I guess.
and the update featuring Genius has been added to existing iPod Touch and iPhones and is rumoured to be added to last gen iPod Classics in the next firmware upgrade there too.
I'm in the market for a new iPod around about now - looking to upgrade my two-year-old 60GB model. I'd been holding back for the last month or so on expectation of Apple refreshing the range last week, so I'm a bit disappointed that the only discernable changes so far as the Classic goes is that they've ditched the 160GB model in favour of 120GB, and added Genius.
Had been thinking I might just go for the new 120GB one anyway, on account of it being a bit thinner and having Genius built-in. But, if they retrospectively add Genius to the last generation of Classics in a firmware upgrade... hmm... much to ponder.
Gave me recommendations of Madonna & Seal when i selected Redjetson.
never had one and never will. oh well.
I didnt want to really. I ended up buying an extra track that wasn't on an LP for about 75p. Pretty useful though having an account when you have ripped an lp to download the artwork with a click of a button.
you can actualy do that? i always go onto amazon, find the artwork and copy it into the artwork box in itunes...
click "store" and get album artwork. it takes aggesszzzz but cover flow looks much nicer.
it says on it that I need to select it on iTunes to use it on my iTouch, but I dunno how. Has anyone managed to work it on an iTouch, and if so - help?
Install itunes 8 on PC.
Get Genius working on your itunes - this involves giving permission on itunes store
Upgrade software for itouch to 2.1
On itouch, genius is located in playlists. Choose a song and it will make up a playlist for you.
Hope this helps
drag it onto your touch.
After that, if you go onto playlists on your touch you will see an option to create a new genius playlist by selecting a new track.
and the wee thing appeares in the top bar below the progresss yaa
Didn't know you could use it to make playlists. That's awesome!! Well, potentially awesome. Will give it a try.
really good. Like someone said above, a firmware update for my ipod classic would be sweet for on the move playlisting.
Does anyone know if they're releasing an update so you can have it on your iPod Classic? That would be sweeeet!
Everytime I try it on my Touch, some caption saying "there are not enough related songs" or sumthing comes up
Just tried it with 'Gold Sounds' officially the best playlist ever
Plus, I don't think a copied album from the internet looks all that different to one copied from a cd on itunes (correct me if i'm wrong).
It's an album that isn't released yet
It might actually kill my computer
= it'll very possibly become blander over time, rather than more accurate.
your using the name now...
I like it! It works pretty well, I think.
should i have to give my credit card details to use this??????
i like it alot.
like someone says above, it will probably become more bland as more and more dull, tasteless douchebags start using it (hi DiS music board/internet critical hive mind!), but it's an improvement to the shuffle feature
i'm surprised they didn't do something like this beforehand to be honest - you could absolutely RINSE a large portion of the more free-n-easy iStore users by dangling exciting new recommendations above their noses. It's last.fm for normal people, albeit for those normal people who actually spend money on music
bands that wear shoes?
bands with shoes in the title?
bands with soles/souls?
