anyone else getting involved? perhaps more people will be going because bon iver has sold out academy 2?
but I need company :(
yet, I've never seen him live.
so I think I'll be sitting at home with my head under the duvet cursing myself for leaving it to the last minute. The guestlist is full and I was outbid on Ebay. God HATES me.
solo for it.
None of my friends enjoy his stylings sadly...
I'm popping down to the union in a bit to get my ticket
so would be a fool to pass this up I reckon
Hopefully there will be tickets on the door later on
instead then. you'll have a blast, and it'll be more fun that crying yourself to sleep listening to the bon iver lp.
and yet so far, will surely be torturous...
you can hang out with me and hannah and we'll have a blast. yeah?
if it wasn't for the fact that it's Metallica Day on radio 1 and I have 3 fantasy players in the Villa Spurs match later and no money and about a trillion reviews to write. And if Jeffrey Lewis wasn't rubbish last time I saw him.
The pajamas are already calling me...
make sure to will a villa win tonight for me, i've got three of their players...
of his music but he gets mentioned a lot round 'ere. Is he any good?
he's really good
Great support too from Cats in Paris and the Wave Pictures. Yey!
you jammy sods, the 1st track off the album is a corker.
his brother drowned the mix in bass, and Lewis looked bored beyond pills.
It's understandable, but I could only make out the odd word because I knew some of the songs, the people I was with who hadn't heard him before thought he was dreadful. Totally put me off bothering with the manc show - hope it's good though.
in Sheffield. He was really great. Go see him if you can!
at the Day at the Races fest at the start of August.
What was his setlist like in Sheffield?
really good set, but weird seeing the movies on a projector rather than an A3 pad. The Wave Pictures were amazing too, again, but didn't play enough songs.
from memory, and not in order;
new song about Herman Dune, Time Machine, They Always Knew, Back When I Was 4, Roll Bus Roll, No LSD, 3 or 4 Crass covers, Arrow, Man With The Golden Arm (brilliant), Anxiety Attack, Posters and some more. Dave Tattersall played ukele on a three tunes as well. So a good mix of old and new. And new tshirt and Fuff issue 7 available at merch table.
like a cracking set to me. add in a bit of cats in paris for tonight and it sounds just peachy.
if so thats awesome!
I'll be there anyway :)
on my birthday, took about 8 or 9 friends, none of whom had heard of him, they all seemed to really enjoy it. One of my friends who is particularly unenthusiastic towards music when hearing it for the first time instantly proclaimed him a "genius" at the end of the gig and another of my friends, who you would probably describe as a "chav" conceded that he had a great time and his lyrics were immense. I strongly recommend him as a live act to anyone in doubt.
I had only heard a handful of his songs beforehand and was an instant convert. Great live act. I had a bit of a moment during Punk is Dead actually.
Jeff was on top form. Although his guitar was annoyingly quiet. Loved the Film Noir Detective story!
Anyone catch the full set list? A few in there I didn't know.
