Please would you list some?
but I probably need to avoid things that call the bride a whore.
that's the first positive one i can think of off the top of my head. Do you just want positive ones?
Not necessarily positive ones. But I'm playing at a surprise party to celebrate a mate's forthcoming wedding and need to play a couple of things that are reasonably appropriate. He's got a fairly twisted sense of humour though so I'm sure I can get away with quite a lot but I'm not quite sure what I'm after...
Girl, you'll be a woman soon. As a last dance.
Well the video at is, at least.
no need to thank me.
just put that on a cd, 18 times.
sarcastic but good
and we're... gooina get maahaarried. etc.
it`s your weddingday stepen lynch and cast(it`s off a musical)
according to wikipedia: "it is a highly improbable story of a bride-to-be who is requested to give oral sex to a man who isn't her groom"
It may only be a fleeting reference to getting married but I had it on repeat while getting ready.
Words cannot express how much I want to cover that song anyway. So I think, tenuous link or not, I want to do it!
or is a completely different song?
This Is Not Your Wedding Song - Excuse 17
it came up with these two ^^ and also ballboy - 'they'll hang flags from cranes upon my wedding day'. but really isn't the sort of thing to play at a party. :(
too much too young?
haha probably not
'Sad veiled bride please be happy, handsome groom give her room'
Pretty much the same sentiment as above...
Oh and Radiohead - Punchup at a Wedding
But I suggest "Ban Marriage" by The Hidden Cameras, for the irony. Or something.
May I recommend the song "Should have been me". Nobody's done a killer version of this bitter song of jilted heartbreak or whatever. Would be better by a bloke. Benny Hill style perhaps.
by nancy sinatra & lee hazlewood.
"we got married in a fever, hotter than a pepper sprout..."
otherwise not that wedding-themed, but brilliant nonetheless.
by Brakes which is ace.
Well, the last verse is about a wedding, and it's a lovely, if not a little depressing lyricly, song.
Other than that I can only think of Red Wedding by The Bled - amazing song, but I wouldn't play it anywhere near a wedding reception.
so much for the afterglow -- everclear
American Wedding - Gogol Bordello
Cigarettes, Wedding Bands - Band of Horses
If You Ever Need A Stranger (To sing at your Wedding) - Jens Lekman
Your Red Dress (Wedding Song at a Cemetry) - Alaska in Winter
A Punchup at a Wedding (No No No...) - Radiohead
Wedding in a Wasteland - Parts & Labor.
This is what iTunes tells me for "wedding"
and lots of Wedding Present.
Bob B. Soxx and the Blue Jeans
"(Today I met) the boy I'm gonna marry"
..lets get married by al green.
it was rather grand.
After much deliberation we managed to include Nick Cave, Einsturzende Neubauten, Low, Smashing Pumpkins and These Animal Men into the ceremony.
I reserve the right to not say what the first dance was, but the last song of the night ended up being Raining Blood by Slayer, which went down surprisingly well. The dance floor went nuts.
paly what you like right?
My lot played a wedding the other week (as the singer is mates with the groom who requested they play) and there were a few elderly relatives with rather amusing faces while they played.
They werent too impressed when the groom got pantera on either
