I'm starting to think I do, does anyone else actually prefer New Order?
thinking about it.
True Faith, Ceremony, Regret, Temptation, Blue fuckin' Monday... i am drawn to these more than the JD oeuvre.
and "the original bootleg of it is so much better"
you'd have to be insane to prefer NO to JD. Just take a look at NO era peter "smug face" hook.
when i first got into the two bands. i still think it's a pretty close run thing.they're both massively influential for very different reasons. i think what seals it in a lot of people's minds is that joy division released two albums that were close to perfection, plus a handful of incredible singles, and they never had a chance to decline and lose relevance like a lot of bands do. new order, on the other hand, have released some pretty mediocre material at times, although make no mistake, the amount of seminal music they created more than makes up for it..
by a fair margin
they are both wicked though I just like the doomy darkness of Joy Division.
you heard their last album, right?
"ha! I truly don't get all the JD/Interpol comparisons."
your point being...?
i hate the interpol comparisons as well, but fuck off for even mentioning them in this thread.
He's the most dislikeable character in music after Robbie Williams.
new order way better than joy division. never though this was an issue, to be honest.
What's the best thing to ever happen to Joy Division?
is probably my favorite band of all time. but new order is almost as good, last album aside.
I'm not a massive Joy Division fan bar Love Will Tear Us Apart whereas True Faith is one of my favourite songs of all time plus I really like Blue Monday, 1963 and Regret. So New Order probably edge it.
I prefer most things to Joy Division, to be fair.
In small doses, no
although I will say that Athmosphere > everything New Order ever did.
Aside from that, Bizarre Love Triangle, Regret, True Faith, Blue Monday, World, various other songs, far more that I love of theirs compared to those I love of Joy Division.
but now a lot of New Order's songs sound really dated with plinky synths all over them, so I've gone off them a bit.
Blue Monday and True Faith are better than anything Joy Division did though (IN MY OPINION). Except Love Will Tear Us Apart, which is better than anything New Order ever did.
To conclude: I don't know.
But to be fair there's more New Order material to base this on. Though that last album was stinking.
Atmosphere is the best song ever but Ceremony and Temptation are also the best song ever so New Order out-best-song-ever JD by a whole song.
New Order ever do anything else that sounded like the original version of Age Of Consent? I love that song.
I think it's been on before, I definitely remembered some of it, but I was wondering what those incredible New Order songs they are playing live at the Hacienda were? Does anybody know?
i'll start a thread about this. can never have too many threads.
but one of my close friends far prefers new order.
i also know some people who are massive new order fans who aren't even familiar with joy division.
'got into' so probably them.
...though JD more consistent.
Grown up with New Order, even to the point of 'World In Motion' returning me to an idyllic childhood mindset.
whilst I do like Joy Division, New Order win every day of the week. Why? Its just down to personal taste and I prefer their songs. C'mon, Bizarre Love Triangle, True Faith, World In Motion, Price Of Love, Regret, Blue Monday, Crysta, etc, etc...
"Atmosphere is the best song ever but Ceremony and Temptation are also the best song ever so New Order out-best-song-ever JD by a whole song."
Cermony is a Joy Division song, curtis wrote it. Its on heart and soul as a demo
JFS0197, I just watched that documentary. The drummer of jd seems very odd in it..
Also yeah a few of the songs of new order live that they showed sounded really good. Though I dont know what the one im thinking of is
