A fine example of how live DVDs should be. <3
WHO GOT A MATCH?
I like them
I thought I was the only one who thinks that film isn't quite the groundbreaking work it seems to be almost universally regarded as. What's the concert move you like then - Song Remains The Same ?
'i've got a little song to play you' (or something like that)
i like the tom tom club bit in the middle.
They just all seem to be having such fun. Love the bit where Byrne starts running around the stage and the stupid big suit. Oh and as you allude to 'Burning down the house' is just great. Shame it happened about 20 years ago and now seems very unlikely that they'd ever play again.
genius genius genius genius (of love). Not only best concert film ever but one of the best films ever full stop. Instead of giving out anti-depressants, doctors should prescribe this instead.
now if only Elvis would have started jogging round the stage....would have looked rather fetching doing laps in his leather.
What A Day That Was is stunning. Probably best song on there. And incidentally much better than the recorded version.
are much better than the album versions.
except once in a life time.
Its amazing on so many levels.
Like how you never see the audience until the very end.
And how the band builds from song to song, showcasing TH's amazing versatility and growth as a band.
The sheer quality of ALL the songs.
The way the editing builds up the tension.
Tom Tom Club doing Genius Of Love.
And, of course, the expanding suit.
In fact, here is my favourite bit from it.
P.S. My mate would argue that it comes in a close second to Scorsese's The Last Waltz, but this nudges it out for me.
only ever seen it on DVD so far. I imagine it would be stunning on the big screen blasting out of movie speakers.
it's brilliant, i can't think of anything better. If anyone can, let me know because i love Live DVDs :)
Great performance, great band, great recording (sound and vision). gets better every time you watch it. I don't know how he keeps up that intensity of performance whilst sprinting around the stage like a mentalist. I love his completely unhinged dancing too.
Stop Making Sense <3
Tom Tom Club
'the girls can do it too y'all!' makes me cringe everytime.
though i have heard from several sources that the live DVD 'The Name Of This Band Is Talking Heads' is much better than Stop Making Sense.
Which I find hard to believe.
I've tried looking but couldn't find anything. Could you point me towrd some evidence, cos that would be amazing!
Thing about Name Of This Band... is that it spans a number of years
