i listened to this album for like a whole year at college though. so good.
but yes. Daniel Bejar is genius.

I never get bored of it.
As with most Destroyer, but particular with Rubies, it has a distinct quality I can't put my finger to that makes the songs really memorable and evocative, it's weird.

in the lyrics category. In the Trouble in Dream review I said this about 40 times and still felt the need to say it again.
I'm amazed more "pop" singers (those with American Idol voices) don't cover Bejar's tunes. They seem ripe for the picking in the same way Leonard Cohen songs are, doncha think?
maybe that's why he feels the need to hide the songs behind such crpytic and fucked up lyrics. It's all part of the fun.
