Sandanista! appreciation thread
Sandanista! is such an underrated album. If it wasn't the fact that it's very long with one or two weak tracks on it, i reckon if shorter it could have been recognised as a great classic album.
Some Clash fans do not rate it highly and subsequently there isnt much love for The Clash on DiS, but those who havnt heard it should really check it out.
Id go as to say some of their best eclectic work is on there, such as Somebody got Murdered, Up in Heaven, Broadway, and Shepherds Delight etc. Maybe more so than London Calling.

you ever heard of 'Cut The Crap'? most clash fans would rate Sandinista! highly over that.
Sandinista however is a super album, listened to the first vinyl yesterday. Any album with Mag 7 on it is a good album.
Has it been reviewed yet in DiS?
i think alot of clash fans wouldn't even consider Cut the Crap as a proper album.
Seeing as half the band were replaced and was always the end of the group.

gahhh it's horrid. Yes Sandinista is mega underated. It's a grower as well.
There were a lot of mutterings
when it came out about it being too long and pretentious (myself included), but that was the punk purist times for you. I still think its a bit difficult to really get your head round an album that lone but there are some great songs on it. I think Junco Partner is one of their best reggae numbers. If you mean its more eclectic than London Calling then yes it is. If you mean its better than London Calling then we're going to have to have a fight 8=)

Your right on the first one. In terms of eclecticism (is that a word?) it is more so than LC, id say. Id dont think its better as LC is probably the first album that made me love music.
I'm sorry but
I just can't bring myself to listen to it all the way through, it's just too much punk-disco for my liking, Somebody got murdered is one my favourite clash songs though.
