Anybody seen them and are they good live?
The Glasgow date next month is tempting me.
I saw Mark Kozelek last year, he was pretty awesome though as much as I love SKM he did go on a bit. But nevertheless I'm off to see them at the Manchester show. Do it! You may regret it if you don't....
that although the tunes are great it'll all blend into one and drag a bit.
As the gig is listed as Sun Kil Moon/Mark Kozelek does that mean he is supporting the "full" band with a solo acosutic slot first?
Yeah, I'm not sure about this either! I'll let you know if i can find anything else out. But maybe you should go anyways, you can always leave if it gets too much...
I saw Kozelek last year and thought he was fantastic. I could see that some might have thought it dragged or blurred into one a bit as it was just him with a guitar, picking.
But since it's SKM, the full band set up should prevent that happening (and I thought he was great solo anyway).
As far I can gather it's a Sun Kil Moon gig but it's billed with the Kozelek name too. They'll maybe play some Red House Painters stuff but there's no sign of a Kozelek acoustic support slot.
persuaded me to go. Well done!
i like that album.
do (according to a mate anyway).
Rather hear his own stuff though.
Sun Kil Moon/ Mark Kozelek, since Mark is a member of Sun Kil Moon, it would be like saying Radiohead/ Thom Yorke.
Unless of course Kozelek's name itself, people will recognize more than "Sun Kil Moon"
I saw Sun Kil Moon 4 years ago at the Scala, he had 2 guitarists and a string section, but this time round might be different
I've seen him on his own, with Red House Painters and with Sun Kil Moon, and all three have been very special affairs. He's fantastic live, and it doesn't matter what name he goes under, he pretty much plays stuff from every incarnation of his career.
And 'Duk Koo Kim' live with the full band is just stunning stuff.
I'm a long time fan, and although I came close one year at ATP when he was replaced with Sons and Daughters for some reason, I've never seen him.
I've heard shit loads of bootlegs though of Red House Painters and Sun Kil Moon, as well as his two live albums and the new live album, but what's confusing me is the billing of Sun Kil Moon / Mark Kozelek, as to whether it's going to be be the full band or just him playing. Both should be amazing, but in totally different ways. Some of his songs are SO much better as solo tracks (Rock n' Roll Singer, Down Colorfull Hill, Cruiser) and some, like a lot of the new album, I can imagine only working with a band. HMMMMMM!
mark kozelek solo was the most tedious gig ive ever been to and I <3 mark kozelek
website there are Mark Kozelek solo dates listed and also Sun Kil Moon dates listed.
The UK dates are listed under Sun Kil Moon so I'm assuming it's full band.
