Oh no. Mercury live... the album admittedly is growing on me.. but this performance is absolutely dire.
but since when was there a spastic in Bloc Party?
Mercury just doesn't work live at all, *cringe*

I get the impression that they just don't know what to do with it live yet.
I cam imagine it being pretty good, when they figure it out. Like Everything In Its Right Place.
But Gordon's replacement could not sing to save his life. Those vocals were painful.
and like mercury more than i did.
are you a sucker for shite performances
Why want to see BP anyway ?
PS : can we stop having 10 BP threads each week, now please ?
releases a new album, what do you expect?
talking about it on nme.com ?
NME bands though.
Shame you can't watch the performance online, aye :)
One Bloc Party show for each album, and I can honestly say that their Reading show was very enjoyable.
During the previous two shows i've been bored after the first few songs, really bored, but this simply didn't happen this time.
a while ago in the Cockpit in Leeds inbetween album one and two. They were brilliant.
@ the 'since when was there a spastic' thing.
If feel very sorry for him knowing that he's going to grown into a new generation of absolutely shite music and shite performances.
fucking good, apart from gordon's replacement's vocals.
at say bad things about Bloc Party you might upset all the lil fan boys like I did the other day...
it would be storming in a small venue
but yeah... get moody bassist back.
I wish he wouldn't do that bollocks effect with the foot pedal. To be honest I'd prefer him just to sing it, even with the cut ups. I dunno, maybe that would look ridiculous.
I told my friend to phone me when this song came on. I had a little dance to it but mostly, Mercury makes me laugh loads. Funny as.
and triggering it with a pedal. It's probably the best way to do it, to be honest.
It's just that at the moment it sounds clumsy.
I maintain that they don't know how to play it properly live yet.
I think it draws too much attention to it, personally. It's just a throwaway bit at the beginning but he has this little grin on his face like he's secretly discovered fire.
Maybe they should employ a all but completely superfluous turntablist, like Incubus.
I can practically hear him thinking "hahahahaha these luddites will never realise I'm looping a vocal part and then cutting it up."
Which to be fair is probably the case for 90% of the Reading crowd.
but the "spastic" part and kele's drunk-kt-tunstall bit is still awful
