Jamie
Yeah, love for JME man, although I did prefer his first album-y thing to Famous?. Still drops some hefty blows though.
_
I wana have a listen to that new JME
I will get round to it soon no doubt.

1 - i really liked the first Simple Kid album, way back when, but i just can't get into the second, it's just...got no real charm to it
4 - seems to be quite good, not 100% sure why everyone went nuts over it but it's not bad
Commuter Belt
I think the second album is absolutely awful. I've gone off the first album (don't think its deep enough) but thought it was good and really liked it at the time. The second is just so MOR though. Waste, really.
_
yeah
there are a couple of really nice songs on it, in the nice acoustic way and Seratonin was brilliant but it was no patch on the first album

1) "The Stolen Singles". They're becoming one of my favourite bands. If you like Lightning Bolt, The Locust or Jesus Lizard you should give them a listen.
2) I got "A Taste for Bitters" from emusic. Are they emo pioneers? I wouldn't know.
3) Everything you would expect from an album called "WAR METAL BATTLE MASTER". Brutal.
4b) Finally got around to listening to 12 Point Buck. On first listen, I prefer their later stuff.
6a) Still quite like this album, but after hearing Lurker of Chalice this week, they don't sound quite as innovative.
7b) KARP. How good is this band? And why had I never heard of them before. So good. Last.fm lists their similar artist as Pissed Jeans, Melvins, Unsane, Harvey Milk, Unwound and Flipper. I'm really looking forward to hearing more of their stuff.
Karp rule!
Check out The Whip too, it's two Karp guys and Joe Preston (again!)

I keep meaning to listen to more Chokebore. They sound great on the amrep samplers.

2. Brilliant, melodic noise. Really, really dark and amazing artwork. I bought it on impulse and it's blown me away.
6*1. Hard to emotionally engage with, but I love the cold, clinical sound of it.
6*2. All Given To The Rising, which is my first experience of Neurosis. Really good stuff, I get the impression it'll take a good few more listens before it really clicks though.
8. Amazing ambient black metal. The opening track is incredibly beautiful.
12. Ghetto Beats From The Surface Of The Sun, yo.
Which WITTR was it?
If it's Two Hunters that's a lot of listening. They're long tracks.
Yep
Was Two Hunters. I've been working on my dissertation all week, so I've had a lot of time to listen. And the album's only about 45 minutes total anyway.
Good Names
Someone else mentioned Xela on here the other day. Tried to buy an album but it was sold out - only iTunes'd the Type sampler in the end. What I've heard (on that and, more so, on his MySpace) is really, really nice.
_
Was probably me
Think I started a thread about it. It's 3.95 from Boomkat, I think. From what I gather his first album is very Boards Of Canada esque but The Dead Sea is completely off the hook in comparison.
Wela Wela
YES! It was you! And shit, yeah, it's cheap in Boomkat. Well, my good man, aren't you just the gift that keeps on giving.
I'll go order that now. Cheers.
_
No problem sir
Hope you enjoy it! If nothing else, you'll have a CD with an inlay depicting lots of people drowning, which is always nice.

1. I like the Nothing People album a lot. It sounds a lot like early Roxy, the less punk CBGB bands and even on the last track Joy Division but weirdly it doesn't sound retro at all. The worst cover art for quite some time though
http://207.228.243.82/ss/np-lp.jpg
5. Pretty cool garage album put out by Shadoks. Kind of downbeat like the Dovers, Bachs and Rising Storm.
6. 'Description of the Harbor' is still amazing.
9. Part of the reason why I don't have any money at the moment is because I spent £20 on that Jandek reissue on vinyl. Still undecided on whether I even like it that much.
what jandek do you have
That new one
'Ready For The House', and 'Blue Corpse'. I'm not really into 'Ready For The House' at the moment. Do you have much of his stuff?
i have some
i like blue corpse, lost cause and six and six
as a rule ida said if yr gonna like jandek at all blue corpse is probably the one to try
idk though he's the kinda thing i go through phases of just listening to him and nothing else, quite demanding ina way
Yeah
I think I've been listening to too much Eat Skull and the like recently. Need to get in the mood for Jandek.
I was looking on AMG and they said 'Blue Corpse' was him at his most accessible which sounds about right.
i think i ended up deciding this was the best guide

youve probably already seen it but its been pretty reliable as far as what ive listened to goes
im gonna listen to some new jandek tonite i think

One of my favourite bands ever.
It only
scrobbled the tracks from Introspections I think, but I bought Consciousness the other day and Im love with it. Where should I go next?
Get Depths
along with the Antarctica EP. You need to hear them as one complete piece. Probably the best ambient guitar-based record you'll ever hear. I seriously cannot recommend them enough.

are you seeing thanksgiving on his tour?
*incase you didn't know i have a massive joy division prejudice,
that wasn't meant to be nasty!
No, I didn't know he was touring
Last.fm tells me he's in London and Leeds... I guess you're seeing him in Leeds (if you are seeing him)?
And why the Joy Division hate?
:(
yeah i am!! nestor is putting him on so i will pop along most def.
long story with JD involving my dad. see also: the smiths, REM and new order.
Well I doubt I can get to Leeds
as brilliant as that would be, I'm far too poor... London might be a possibility. It's a slim might though. Still, it'd be cool if I did see him!
I'm glad to see some Bon Iver love
I'm going to see him on 15/9 - have you seen him live?
