pretty fucking annoying?
but people gettin up tight about music do hehe
i like Soil & "Pimp". It's one of the best albums of whatever year it was released
no idea when it was released mind.
They have so much raw punk energy for a jazz band, its wicked.
it's all about the righteousness of the groove
would be out of this world
i'm not too sure. I watched some of their live videos (Jools mainly) and they seemed to have an affected zaniness which was quite annoying. And the actual performances themselves weren't too great neither - the studio work seems to balance on the edge of collapse, probably because of the looseness of the rhythms, but on the videos i saw the band synergy was a bit off
Might have something to do with youtube quality though.. that shit pisses me off whatever i'm listening to
you would have thought they would be honed musitians live being from the jazz crowd....
it could be youtube the sound is a heap of shit on those thing.

Burial's DJ Kicks and Polar Bear will be fighting for a spot too no doubt when I hear them...
my thread has true and worthy intentions, even if i can't be bothered to go into the intricacies right now
it's a totally non-committal way of saying not very much. It's good yes, in fact it's one of the best of the year. Oh right, so what does that mean? Why is it good? Do you just like it/think it's pretty good, but don't want to stick your neck out? Why not say something which actually means something? WHY NOT SAY SOMETHING ACTUALLY FUCKING PASSIONATE ABOUT IT?
It not the most blatantly horrendous thing someone could say when discussing music, but it pisses me off immensely. Maybe it's just my quirk? Maybe it's just a totally pointless, uninsightful opinion for the sake of opinion? Maybe it's somewhere in between?
on dubstep forums the other day for not being critical enough. You get a thread about a tune an you get pages and pages of replys that just say
*evil face emoticon*
that stuff cracks me up...
i think it's probably just the way of internet forum music discussion. You can't fight City Hall
its well funny
people were shoutin for the thread to be shut down cos someone started sayin on producer wasnt hi thing hehheh
but these daft statements are the glue which holds the message board together. You just have to filter em out like the OMG Les Savy Fav has leaked i've won the mega leak contest!!11 threads. It's cool.
Also the year is nowhere near finished. We still have all those Christmas cash-in greatest hits albums to come. Maybe they will be the best of the year.
if no-one ever dragged out the meaningless and pointless critical cliches then the board would literally decombobulate. At least my protests will fall on deaf ears
Do you ever think 'why am I even typing about music on the internet anyway?'
I mean this board (or rather a few people on it) has turned me on to some good tunes and I have actually met a few nice people through it, but I don't enjoy talking about music on here really. I did a while ago.
Posting the odd unfunny joke response, that is what I am talkin bout.
all my mates see music as a minor pursuit, so when i start waxing lyrical about it they just look at me blankly. DiS is my only avenue for freeform shitchatting
Hell, i don't even care that i'm talking to myself most of the time. It's just nice to throw my ideas out there
About the talking about music thing. No real chance to do it In Real Life and not too fussed if anyone on The Internet cares either, by this point.
(Which is lucky, no doubt.)
over the phrase
I've won te mega leak contest!!11
it's so boring to read statements like "ALBUM OF THE MONTH" or a rating out of 10. It's so much more interesting to read why a piece of music means something to someone, even if it's badly articulated or something I completely disagree with.
Then again I like it at the end of the year when everyone makes favourite albums lists. Hmmmnhnhmmhnnnhhm
and we all like to get excited some times and spaff off over something.
I do like people sayin why they liek and dont like stuff though. Which is what I was tryin to do today in some bloc party threads and I got abused by street teamers heheh
i always seem to blab on about this, but if you think something about music then you should just say it. It doesn't matter if your diction or vocabulary isn't great, just fucking spit it out. And if people disagree with you then keep on fighting it. If people tell you to go sit in Pseud's corner then tell them politely to shit off
see what they did there?
how else am i supposed to replicate me staring crazily into your eyes and spitting angry phlegm into your mouth?
what i did was right, i opened this thread in a tab then read another thread in another tab then probably went off and did something, then came back and read this thread, then posted, but i was about 20 minutes late so the post came up in the middle of nowhere and was misunderstood, your capitals were completely necessary.
it's 100% vapid and utterly meaningless. wtf does the difference between december and january mean and are they really claiming that they have the infoz to make that call?
it's some sort of transposed P4K authority, like that's the only way music can be judged nowadays. I think it has something to do with an intrinsic hipster attitude of being "in line with the times", as if you need to judge something in chronological tandem with the vacuousity of the forumosphere.
Hmm, yeah.. it's good, but does it stand up against the other releases within this calender year? Because that's what really matters, right?
this sort of thing has been going on for years
people just like classifying and listing things
but i don't want it, and will complain about at will. K?
i blame aristotle tbh
check out this early example
we can't reveal the artists"
by studio guys. Have you ever been into Millets? They play that stuff in Millets. Those random musicians make the Killers sound jaunty.
It's an overlooked musical area. I love the songs on adverts that are popular tunes with a couple of different notes to avoid sueage. Sewage?
what do you think about the authorised pseudo-version of Blister In The Sun on that beer ad? If i had any emotions, it would sadden me
I am a hard hearted man. Also Blister's already been done on some other advert ages ago.
The worst guy of all is Suggs. He rerecorded the vocals to 'Our House' so they'd fit the product. I can't remember what they were selling. Also he's the new Captain Birdseye. AND
In the same way getting syphllis would be annoying...hmm, I dunno.
It's really more the sort of thing I would expect to see above a movie advert: you know, when some (paid?) anonymous reviewer from Tucson AZ newspaper says "one of the best comedies of the year" ...so fucking what.
"Life In The Bus Lane by Applicants is..."
"one of the best albums I'VE HEARD this year"
but it doesn't bother me.
when it's used by an individual.
It does annoy me when it is used as advertising. Calling something 'album of the year' or 'What everyone is talking about!' when you are flogging stuff is tantamount to saying "We're only trying to sell to extremely stupid cunts here."
being the kind of person that would write "In my top 10 for the year" on the internet saying out loud is quite a different proposition.
