I think they're ace
They're supporting Black Lips at Heaven on Sept 16th.
Yeah
King Khan and BBQ Show are, not King Khan and the Shrines.
I take it the BBQ guy (it is one guy right?)
is not in the Shrines?
yeah
BBQ is mark sultan huh

Yeah was reading on there friendship with the Black Lips earlier
Some fairly crazy gigs in Germany

yeah they're aweome
there is a big section on King Khan
in the current issue of Skyscraper.
good read!
good shout
And some stuff on the Melvins, Jay Reatard & Harvey Milk.. makes it well worth picking up...
yeah it's a good issue!
it's made me look into night wounds as well.
maybe not as good as the one last year with HEALTH, meneguar, pissed jeans, clipd beaks etc though.
I have the two
King Khan and BBQ Show albums which are great. Really want to hear the Shrines stuff.
It is weird how suddenly Vice and Pitchfork have picked up on King Khan.
not much between the Shrines and BBQ stuff
The shrines album has loads more horns.. but not a great different in sound - worth checking out for Land of Freak and Welfare bread which are absolutely fucking awesome..
You should get the
Mark Sultan (BBQ) album Sultanic Verses as well. He plays the drums and guitar at the same time, it's a really nice mix of garage rock and surf music.
Got some Shrines shit the other day.
OK, but needs a few listens IMO.
Eez good band!
I only have this cd called 'Smash Hits' but it's all good. Five of the nine tracks on it are on that new Vice cd by the looks but the other four are just as good. Especially Kukamonga Boogaloo.
King Khan & the Shrines in London
Yes! This Friday! At the Dirty Water Club, in the Boston Music Room, just around the corner from Tufnell Park tube station (that's two stops up from Camden Town). Can't wait!
