They've just stuck it on NME - http://www.nme.com/mediaPlayer&playlist_id=1786
Thoughts? Not as "different" as Mercury but the album's going to be a departure by the sounds of things...
sorry you'll need to cut and paste the nme address and ignore my spazzy paste of wrong web address at bottom.
You know the one I mean.
again and again and again...
its good. his vocals are always shite though.
thats for sure
I don't get anything from it really in either direction love or hate...
gonna hold out playing it to death until i have the whole album, sick of pre-album singles being un-listenable by the time the album actually comes out.
that was predictably poor to average.
not as bad as Mercury but it still sounds like the death of my fondness for them.
so much. New song's pants. BP are gone. Shame.
sounds OK. Not great, but I could see myself warming to it. Although, much like Mercury, it seems a bit too busy with nothing standing out in the mix, which I don't think quite works well for Bloc Party.
They are trying to be too interesting and filling up their songs with so much background noise, which they clearly have no talent for. Silent alarm worked because it had energy and hooks.
are a heap of crap Pap knife Lee is a master of ruining the sound of bands. I like some Epworth stuff but he is hit and miss.
how much this new direction BP are taking is down to them and how much it is down to their producer(s) just wanting to mess around with all their fancy gadgets.
the new direction is just stripping them of everything I found interesting about them. It feels like they're just trying too hard, and I doubt it's the producer that has bullied them into it.
the band obviously play a massive part in it. I do really hate Jack Knife though the guy sucks hehe
a bit shocking isn't it?
did they have to pre-release this, pointless, anyway I dont think it sounds as terrible as people are saying, I'll give it a few more listens.
Bloc Party have become massively over produced. Silent Alarm was immediate and raw sounding - one of the best thing about them was always the skill and power of Matt Tong's drums. Now they are buried under a load of noise...
Too many effects on the vocals, Don't want to jump on the backlash bandwagon but think its slightly deserved
being a northern band?
everyone's saying it's better than mercury, i'm probably gonna hate it.....
Is there something wrong with the track or are they going for some No Age/Times New Viking/Boris-style distortion overload because it really doesn't work. Melodically it sounds like one of their weaker album tracks and the lyrics are typically shocking. What the fuck is that Flux track too? Haven't heard that one before. Is it off the new album? Sounds like Cascada.
I really like Mercury though. Is that wrong?
is nice, if you listen to it on headphones, I actually dont think it's that bad.
sounding great around 2.30. really like it actually.
i'm not sure whether i like or dislike mercury but i certainly don't love it.
i gave WATC a listening to earlier- still some stuff i really like on there, but the lyrics piss me off a bit, especially in the songs where noting musically is going on. 7.5/10
This has one of the worst opening lines of any song I've ever heard. "you used to take our watch off when we made love / you didn't want to share our time with anyone" Urgh!
But you get the idea of how bad the metaphor is
