probably radiohead's best song, on their best record. agree?
cos htdc is on kid a too
and amnesiac is their best record
isn't even on an album...*
But you're right - Kid A is probably their best (followed closely by In Rainb*ws).
*It's "Cuttooth", by the way.
^ know know know know knows!
that asterisk was so unnecessary.
and ya that whole amnesiac b-side album is awesome
But no way is it anywhere near their best
i've always thought so. It's just unbelievable. Makes me water up a bit, i'll admit. You should all try and get the "acoustic" version of it. It's just...
as the acoustic version was so lovely, but now i love them both
their best song, but the rest of Kid A bores me to tears. Amnesiac's the winner.
Exhibit A: The song "Let's Get Fucked Up and Die"
Exhibit B: the lyrics to "Everything is Alright"
but not THAT good. Not even the best on that album.
Kid A was something heavily recomended.
I got it for Christmas, not sure which year, but it certainly snowed. I listened to it for the first time when I went for a walk on Christmas day and was just speechless. As I turned into my street, Motion Picture Soundtrack started playing. I remember standing outside my house, freezing cold, but not wanting any of it to end.
I'd hesitate to say it's their best, but in almost any other band's catalogue it would be their finest hour. A real work of art.
motion picture soundtrack is good, but i preferred the demo / session performance that leaked before kida a came out - it's more desperate sounding
how to disappear completely is their masterpiece + i think idioteque is damn fine > better than m.p.s.
kid a has such a place in my heart ; but i find it difficult to listen to 'optimistic' without hitting fast forward. It just doesn't sit with the rest of the album, too much of a nod to a conventional college rock kind of sound
because Optimistic is not only my favourite Radiohead song - but favourite of all time! it's one of those right time right place songs - so many personal reasons - but the music is sublime - the arrangement is something else! (check the performance of it on you tube under From the basement sessions - the opening first few chords send shivers down your spine)
But i agree with somebody near the top - Cuttooth is a massively underrated song! was its last minute exclusion from Amnesiac, a mistake (exchanged for hunting bears i believe)??!! it certainly would have put the album in a different light!
Kid A wins though - from start to finish! does anyone feel different emotions listening to it during the day to night / summer to winter?
(this is the last time i rage on about this album - i need a new album to devote myself to - preferably not radiohead!! any suggestions?)
its actually one of the very few Radiohead songs I don't care much for, along with Videotape. (It's still pretty good though!)
And OK Computer, despite people's boasts to the contrary, is clearly their best album. If you don't beleive me, go to your room, turn the lights off, lie down, put it on, turn your phone off, turn it up and listen to it again. And realise the truth in the breathless seconds following the triangle tap at the end of The Tourist.
That said, Kid A and In Rainbows (increasingly) are very, very special.
but i like several other songs on the album better. it's still a pretty good song though.
