What's the venue like? I want to see Mark Kozelek but i'm NOT going to that shitfuck Shepherd's Bush Empire.
S'alright, pretty central, not too big, not too small, not too expensive.
300 capacity I'd reckon. Not that there were that many there when we played...
Shep Bush Empire capacity: 2000.
Roadhouse capacity: 200.
In other news, it's cool, just a little subterranean sweatbox bunker. Easy to get to too.
it's tiny, but isn't Mark Kozelek playing the Scala?
but i'm fairly sure he's doing shepherd's bush too. maybe that date has been and gone.
i don't really like the scala either. always screams 'FIRE HAZARD'. No idea how they get away with over-selling it by the amount that they do...
Subterranean, grimy, small, dark, well-stocked bar, low ceiling, great sound system. So it ticks all the boxes!
It's been tarted up (slightly!) of late, but not so you'd notice...
I'd say it's tied with the Night & Day as the best small venue in Manchester.
road/train trip time. and i can FINALLY see Mark Kozelek.
Wouldn't choose to put something on there.
When it's full. The amount of times I nearly passed out in Mclusky moshpits.
it was refurbed a while ago and although it's still in the little underground sweatbox category, it's certainly no dump. Good bar, good sound system, friendly staff, intimate atmosphere. One of the best venues in Manchester.
I'd be interested to see what they've done with it. Was meant to go last week coincidently as my mates band were supporting The Icarus Line, but couldn't afford it.
not sure what it's like to watch a gig there, but it's fun to play.
