include links please. stuff with acoustic guitars and cornets and fields. yeah. FIELDS. thank you.
i like this.
i'm also quite obsessed with slow club at the minute.
too lazy to link, sorry.
Played with us at The Art of Kissing at The Fav Kane you would have liked it. Listen to The School, they are from Cardiff, Liz has a voice to die for.
is as good a place to start as any, then try...
The Pastels - Sittin' Pretty
The Field Mice - Snowball
Sarah Records Compilation - Air Balloon Road
The Razorcuts - A Is For Alphabet
The Shop Assistants - s/t
Orange Juice - You Can't Hide Your Love Forever
Primal Scream - Sonic Flower Groove
The Primitives - Lazy 86-88
Heavenly "Le Jardin de Heavenly"
"The Kids at the Club" compilation (on How Does It Feel To Be Loved? records)
Its Different For Domeheads and Doing It For The Kids too, the ace early Creation Records compilations.
I prefer Distortion to the two MF records you mention but then I guess shoegaze just edges twee for me!
Have you heard any of the stuff that Windmill Records put out in the early 90s. Bands like The Fat Tulips, The Haywains, The Applicants and The Windmills themselves.
never thought I'd see that name on DiS
from the 'Four Bands, Four Songs' flexi is a forgotten classic.
it's up there with Shimmer by The Flatmates
Their Love And Death compilation is pretty damn great too.
Also 'George Hamilton's Dead' by The Golden Dawn, 'Daydream' by The Sunflowers and 'Juice' by The Playthings.
They don't make em like those any more!
is one of the best sites on the net.
out of print these days, but there's a K Records compilation that includes all of it + some other stuff. 25 tracks worth :D
Camera Obscura too. Dunno the link but always been a quality band.
ciccadas are twee!
are a bit twee-y arent they?
The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart
Probably my favourite band doing this kind of thing at present.
Hari and Aino yeah
on Lyle's recommendation. Niiice.
Not bad, 6 is about right I reckon...
cheers. as is crayon fields
are quite possibly the best pure twee indie pop band currently going.
I second the nomination of The Pains of being Pure at Heart who are amazing. Also check: A Smile and a Ribbon, All Girl Summer Fun Band, Horowitz, Cub, Esiotrot, Pants Yell!, Pocketbooks, Strawberry Whiplash. Oh and pretty much anything on the excellent label WeePOP!
I love that song about punks writing love songs. If the rest of their material compares, I'm there!
isn't even the best track on that album!
I'd say the best record to start with is 'Disenchanted Hearts Unite' closely followed by 'Every Scene Needs A Centre' and 'Beat Surf Fun'. Then pretty much everything else.
Okkervil River :)
Black Sheep Boy to be precise.
(the latter has acoustic guitars and trombones)
Ivan Campo (from Manchester)
See their video for 'Bandit' here...
