What are these like?
I know two of them are in Laura Marlings backing band.... worth checking out if your into folk?
they are incredible. their debut EP is so heartfelt but with massive kick drum bite to it too. Basically, i love them and so should you.
EP is very good, if not fantastically well produced. Well worth checking out live, particularly - they pull off the five-part harmonies really well.
why is it superficial? Are you the folk tsar or summit?
they were folk cause from what i keep reading up about the ep its like a folk band? Sorry if im completely wrong.
from what i've read, they're all big fans of folk and bluegrass and there's definitely that basis in the songs I've heard too.
Quite conservative, aye. Folk music is a pretty broad school and I don't think we use 'folk' to mean "from the folk region of France" like an EU directive any more either. We just use it to describe any sparkling wine.
I'd agree with you that they aren't massively folky, though.
i mean, the songwriting is pretty much massively derivative and all sounds vaguely familiar and like all the other bands from that scene but they're just so fantastic at doing it that i don't really mind.
Saw them play with Noah & The Whale a couple of times in Bristol, and they were absolutely brilliant.
I even featured them on my podcast (shameless plug):
actually I had them on the previous episode, sorry. (excuse the noob)
'Sister' sounds utterly glorious and it's only a bloody demo! I know they've already been widely tipped, but i so hope they do well.
