Thoughts? My initial reaction is positive...
I liked Kings of Leon when they sounded like a country-rocknroll band who had a knack for writing exciting tunes.
They sounded so much younger and more 'dangerous' on Aha Shake. They seem to have grown up since the third one, and in my opinion, gone boring as sin.
They've lost that kick they had, and replaced it with boring 8 minute songs, relaying the same hooks over and over.
it reminds me more of their older stuff I guess
are really dull, standard, MOR stadium indie-rock. I'm gutted, but this is what I expected them to do before the last album so at least I've had one more great album from them.
All the fun has gone. That's why I loved KOL in the first place, they were such fun. Now they sound like everyone else.
Still, that's 3 songs from a 10-12 track album, so here's hoping the rest is killer.
they'd be fucked, seriously.
is amazing, i could watch him all day
when did the drummer become the sexy one?
Got some nice guitars going on their newer stuff.
That said, paradoxically, I don't mind it.
think this is great - clearly going for the big stadium sound, but dammit it rocks. There seems to be too much reverb on the vocals though.
rather pleasing radio fodder. that ain't a bad thing. i only listened because the title made it sound like a powering, fiery (ha) two minute deal.
amazing, along with crawl. cant wait for the new lp
did we really need another two albums like the first 2? we can still listen to them and enjoy them, and theu still play their stuff live. they've become a lot more confident and knowledgeable about their industry, instruments etc., so it's natural they would want to evolve.
Im slightly disappointed.
the last album
and on first listen i really like it.
they are just becoming more pop orientated and commerical. nothing wrong with that.
calebs vocals sound immense and the melodies are catchy as fuck.
his voice has matured amazingly
I've only heard it once but to me it sounds a bit u2 and i hate u2. i can also see the boys of summer comparison.
